Our match prediction:
Manchester City did not exactly manage to justify pre-season predictions, although having already lifted the Capital One Cup trophy, they could turn this season into a success by winning the Champions League as well. That is not going to be an easy task, but the good news is the Citizens are close to reaching the last eight. The 3-1 victory in Kiev ended a three-match losing run for Manuel Pellegrini’s men and with the Manchester derby next on agenda, Man City will want to produce another strong performance in midweek. Their opponents Dynamo Kiev clearly missed their opportunity in the first leg as they failed to take advantage of the opposition lack of confidence and instead opted for a cautious approach, which proved a very poor decision. By the time they got back into the game, it was already too late and the last gasp goal by Yaya Toure virtually put the tie to bed. Therefore, it would be quite bold to predict that Dynamo would get something from the return match.
Highligted Player (Yaya Toure):
Gnegneri Yaya Toure is an Ivory Coast footballer who plays for Manchester City as a midfielder. The experienced player has won two Premier League trophies with the Citizens (2011/2012, 2013/2014), but he used to win titles during his spell with Barcelona as well. The Ivory Coast ace clinched two La Liga trophies with Barca (2008/2009, 2009/2010) and he did well to lift the Champions League trophy with the Catalan outfit in 2009. Speaking of his success with the Ivory Coast national football team, Yaya Toure won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2015. It has to be noted that Toure scored in the penalty shootout in the title clash against Ghana. The Manchester City midfielder, though, failed to impress in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign, with the former Barcelona star netting only six goals in 29 appearances for the Etihad Stadium outfit. Yaya Toure used to play for the likes of Beveren, Metalurg Donetsk, Olympiakos and Monaco in the past as well.
