Our prediction for this MLS match:
Mercedes-Benz Stadium will host Sunday's football game between Atlanta United and Vancouver Whitecaps. The Five Stripes have big ambitions for the 2018 MLS campaign, but they will have to prove their worth on the field. Tata Martino is still in charge of the team and it remains to be seen if his men are going to give fans some cheer this weekend. The Whitecaps, on the other hand, did well to beat Montreal Impact and Houston Dynamo at the start of the season, but seeing that Atlanta are a real force to be reckoned with at home, we do not believe that they are capable of keeping their 100% record intact. A man to watch in the away side will be Camara, who has already netted two goals in the MLS this term. In their only previous meeting in a competitive match Vancouver recorded a 3-1 win over the Five Stripes, meaning that the hosts are hungry for revenge.
Highlighted Player (Josef Martinez):
Josef Alexander Martinez Mencia started his senior career at Caracas, but he made no more than 36 league appearances for the Venezuelan outfit from 2010 to 2012. Martinez then moved to Europe and the 170-cm tall striker scored 4 goals in 34 appearances for the capital club. In the 2013/2014 season he played for fellow Swiss outfit Thun (on loan) and on June 7, 2014 he signed a contract with Serie A team Torino. In December, 2017 Josef Martinez scored his first ever goal in the Italian top flight in a 2-2 draw with Palermo. The Venezuela international currently plays (on loan) for Atlanta United in MLS and he made his debut for Gerardo Martino’s team against New York Red Bulls. Speaking of his international career, Martinez made his Venezuela debut against El Salvador, coming from the bench after 76 minutes. On November 10, 2016 he scored a hat-trick for La Vinotinto in a thrilling 5-0 victory over Bolivia and it has to be noted that he has four caps (two goals) for Venezuela U20 team.
Highlighted Team (Vancouver Whitecaps):
Vancouver Whitecaps are yet another Canadian side that compete in Major League Soccer. Vancouver began play in the USA top flight in 2011 and one year later they became the first Canadian outfit to book their place in the MLS Cup play-offs. However, star-studded Los Angeles Galaxy proved to be a big catch for the Whitecaps in the knockout round. Vancouver, though, did remarkably well to win the Canadian Championship in 2015, with the team beating Montreal Impact in the title game. In 2016 they made it to the final of the tournament as well, but Toronto FC eventually won the trophy. The Whitecaps are owned by Greg Kerfoot, Steve Luczo, Jeff Mallett and Steve Steve Nash, the former NBA star, and they play their home matches at BC Place. Speaking of MLS games, the capacity of the venue is 22.120 and you should know that the stadium was opened back in 1983. The Caps wear white shirts and white shorts when playing at home, while the colour of their away kit is blue.
