Our football match prediction:
Chicago Fire did well to book their place in the MLS Cup play-offs, with the team finishing the regular season in third place in the Eastern Conference. Veljko Paunovic’s men set up a meeting with New York Red Bulls in the play-offs and they will have to be at their sharpest in Thursday’s football game if they are to make it to the conference semis. Nemanja Nikolic has been scoring goals for fun this season (24) and all eyes will be on the Hungary international when the two teams face each other at Toyota Park. New York Red Bulls did well to beat DC United on the road in their last game of the season and they are on a three-match unbeaten run in MLS ahead of the trip to Illinois. The two teams seem to be evenly matched at the moment and we predict that the game will go into extra-time.
Highligted Player (David Arshakyan):
David Arshakyan is a Russian footballer who currently plays for Chicago Fire as a striker. Arshakyan was born on August 16, 1994 and he played for local club Smena St. Petersburg during his youth career. On the other hand, he started his professional career with Armenian club FC Mika, but he made no more than three appearances for the Mika Stadium outfit. The Russian footballer then joined Lithuanian side FK Trakai and he scored 36 goals in 57 appearances for the club in two seasons. On July 28, 2016 he produced probably the best performance of his career as he scored a hat-trick in a victory over FK Utenis Utena. Six days later it was announced that he would join MLS side Chicago Fire on a two-year deal. Arshakyan made his debut for the club on August 27, 2016, coming as a substitute after 56 minutes. Speaking of his international career, the Chicago Fire attacker debuted for Armenian national team on September 4, 2016 against Denmark.
Highlighted Team (New York Red Bulls):
New York Red Bulls are the first club from New York City to join Major League Soccer. In 2006 the club was sold to Red Bull GmbH and, as a result, they are nicknamed the Red Bulls. New York welcome their rivals at Red Bull Arena and the team’s home colours are white and red. On the other hand, the Red Bulls wear dark blue shirts and yellow shorts on the road. In 2008 New York Red Bulls made it to the MLS Cup final, but they were not capable of matching Columbus Crew (1-3) in the Home Depot Center clash. A number of top-class footballers were part of the team in the past, but former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry is the synonym of the club. Henry scored 51 goals in 122 league games for New York Red Bulls from 2010 to 2014 and it has to be noted that he scored his first MLS hat-trick in a 5-2 victory over Montreal Impact on March 31, 2012. The likes of Youri Djorkaeff, Lothar Matthaus, Roberto Donadoni, Rafael Marquez, Juninho and Tim Cahill played for the club in the past as well.
