Our football match prediction:
Colorado Rapids and DC United, the two out-of-form teams, face each other at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park and a close encounter appears on the cards. Colorado recorded only one win in previous eight league fixtures and, no doubt, the hosts will leave their hearts on the field in Sunday’s football match. Pablo Mastroeni’s troops sit in tenth place in the Western Conference and they head into the game following a goalless draw with Dallas. DC United, on the other hand, are having a season to forget and they are a rock-bottom team in the Eastern Conference. The capital club suffered seven losses in last eight games in the Major League Soccer and that is the main reason why we are tempted to put our money on the hosts. It has been six years since the Rapids recorded their last win over DC United, but the hosts are likely to put an end to the negative trend.
Highligted Player (Tim Howard):
Tim Howard is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the history of USA national football team. Howard is well known for his spell with English giants Manchester United. The experienced shoot-stopper played for the Red Devils from 2003 to 2007 and he spent the 2006/2007 season on loan at Everton. At the end of the season he signed a permanent deal with the Goodison Park outfit and it has to be noted that he made no less than 354 league appearances for the Toffees. During the 2011/2012 Premier League campaign he scored his first and only goal for Everton as he found the net in a 2-1 loss to Bolton Wanderers. Thanks to the goal against Bolton he became the fourth goalkeeper to score a Premier League game. In 2016 he decided to return to USA, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal with Colorado Rapids. Howard conceded 20 goals in 19 appearances for the Rapids in the 2016 MLS season and he managed to keep eight clean sheets. It is well known that the USA goalkeeper won the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup with the Yanks.
Highlighted Team (DC United):
D.C. United have been participating in the Eastern Conference of the MLS since 1996. The capital club play their home games at RFK Stadium Washington and they are nicknamed the Black and Red. D.C. United won their fourth MLS Cup in 2004 and in 1998 the club clinched the Copa Interamericana trophy by beating Vasco da Gama of Brazil in the title game. The Black and Red won the Eastern Conference on five occasions (1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2004) and, as a result, they are regarded as one of the most successful clubs in the history of MLS. Andy Najar, Eddie Pope, Jaime Moreno, John Harkes, Ryan Nelsen, Christian Gomez, Nick Rimando, Richie Williams, Clyde Simms, Tony Sanneh, Marco Etcheverry and Santino Quaranta are some of the club’s most famous players. Speaking of D.C. United fans, the club has four big supporters groups: La Norte, La Barra Brava, the Screaming Eagles and La Norte and the club’s mascot is Talon, the bald eagle.
