Our football match prediction:
Sunday’s football game at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park pits together Colorado Rapids and Real Salt Lake. Colorado Rapids kicked off the new MLS campaign in style, with the team beating New England at home, but they have not been as impressive in the league ever since. Pablo Mastreoni’s team suffered a 3-1 loss to Sporting KC at the weekend, with the team extending their winless run in the league to three games. The Rapids have been struggling at the back of late and, taking everything into account, home win should not be considered. Real Salt Lake, on the other hand, desperately needed a win against Vancouver Whitecaps at the weekend and they managed to get one. The Royals proved their worth in Sunday’s clash and it has to be noted that Armenia international Yura Movsisyan scored his third goal of the season. The former Spartak Moscow attacker is likely to prove a handful for the opposition back-line, but, taking everything into account, we predict that the two teams are going to share the spoils in Denver, Colorado.
Highlighted Player (Tim Howard):
Tim Howard is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the history of USA national football team. Howard is well known for his spell with English giants Manchester United. The experienced shoot-stopper played for the Red Devils from 2003 to 2007 and he spent the 2006/2007 season on loan at Everton. At the end of the season he signed a permanent deal with the Goodison Park outfit and it has to be noted that he made no less than 354 league appearances for the Toffees. During the 2011/2012 Premier League campaign he scored his first and only goal for Everton as he found the net in a 2-1 loss to Bolton Wanderers. Thanks to the goal against Bolton he became the fourth goalkeeper to score a Premier League game. In 2016 he decided to return to USA, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal with Colorado Rapids. Howard conceded 20 goals in 19 appearances for the Rapids in the 2016 MLS season and he managed to keep eight clean sheets. It is well known that the USA goalkeeper won the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup with the Yanks.
Highlighted Team (Real Salt Lake):
Real Salt Lake joined Major League Soccer in 2005 as an expansion team of the league and four years later they won their first MLS Cup. The Royals faced star-studded Los Angeles Galaxy in the title game at Qwest Field in Seattle and Jason Kreis’ troops defeated David Beckham and Co. on penalties. In 2013 Real Salt Lake made it to the MLS Cup final for the second time in the club’s history, but they were beaten by Sporting Kansas City on penalties this time out. The Royals participated in the CONCACAF Champions League final in 2011 as well, but Monterrey of Mexico eventually won the title. Real Salt Lake footballers wear red shirts and blue shorts when playing at home, while the colour of their away kit is white. The likes of Clint Mathis, Jeff Cunningham and Eddie Pope are some of the notable footballers who played for the club in the past. Jeff Cunningham scored 19 goals in 32 appearances in the league for the Royals.
