Our football match prediction:
Colorado Rapids do not seem to be on top of their game ahead of the visit of Vancouver Whitecaps. Colorado suffered a 1-0 loss to San Jose Earthquakes at the weekend and they are on a three-game unbeaten run in MLS at the moment. Pablo Mastroeni’s men are desperate to put an end to the negative trend, but the hosts will have to be at their sharpest in Sunday’s football match if they are to return to winning ways. The Canadian outfit, on the other hand, rolled over Dallas at Toyota Stadium in their last league match, with Fredy Montero scoring a brace for the Whitecaps in the 4-0 win over Toros. The Colombian attacker has netted eight goals so far this season and all eyes will be on him when Vancouver face Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The visitors have been in a much better form than the hosts of late and we believe that there is a big value in betting on Carl Robinson’s charges.
Highlighted Player (Tim Howard):
Tim Howard is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the history of USA national football team. Howard is well known for his spell with English giants Manchester United. The experienced shoot-stopper played for the Red Devils from 2003 to 2007 and he spent the 2006/2007 season on loan at Everton. At the end of the season he signed a permanent deal with the Goodison Park outfit and it has to be noted that he made no less than 354 league appearances for the Toffees. During the 2011/2012 Premier League campaign he scored his first and only goal for Everton as he found the net in a 2-1 loss to Bolton Wanderers. Thanks to the goal against Bolton he became the fourth goalkeeper to score a Premier League game. In 2016 he decided to return to USA, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal with Colorado Rapids. Howard conceded 20 goals in 19 appearances for the Rapids in the 2016 MLS season and he managed to keep eight clean sheets. It is well known that the USA goalkeeper won the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup with the Yanks.
Highlighted Team (Vancouver Whitecaps):
Vancouver Whitecaps are yet another Canadian side that compete in Major League Soccer. Vancouver began play in the USA top flight in 2011 and one year later they became the first Canadian outfit to book their place in the MLS Cup play-offs. However, star-studded Los Angeles Galaxy proved to be a big catch for the Whitecaps in the knockout round. Vancouver, though, did remarkably well to win the Canadian Championship in 2015, with the team beating Montreal Impact in the title game. In 2016 they made it to the final of the tournament as well, but Toronto FC eventually won the trophy. The Whitecaps are owned by Greg Kerfoot, Steve Luczo, Jeff Mallett and Steve Steve Nash, the former NBA star, and they play their home matches at BC Place. Speaking of MLS games, the capacity of the venue is 22.120 and you should know that the stadium was opened back in 1983. The Caps wear white shirts and white shorts when playing at home, while the colour of their away kit is blue.
