Our football match prediction:
Los Angeles Galaxy suffered an embarrassing 6-2 loss to Real Salt Lake in their last game in the Major League Soccer and it is more than obvious that the team struggle at the back. The Stubhub Center outfit dropped to eighth place in the standings and they are on a three-game losing run in the league ahead of the visit of Vancouver. Thursday’s football match is of big importance for the hosts and we predict that they are going to fight tooth and nail against the Canadian team. Former Chelsea full back Ashley Cole found the net in the 6-2 loss to Real Salt Lake and the veteran will be the man to watch in the home team. Vancouver Whitecaps did well to beat New York City at home in their last league match, but beating Los Angeles Galaxy on the road is easier said than done.
Highlighted Player (Ashley Cole):
After ending his spell with Arsenal Ashley Cole joined fellow capital club Chelsea in 2006. Arsenal fans were angry with the England full back, who “betrayed” the Gunners and signed a contract with their fierce local rivals. Ashley Cole, though, was hungry for trophies and in 2011/2012 he won the Champions League title with the Blues. He won the 2009/2010 Premier League trophy with the Stamford Bridge outfit as well and he played for Chelsea in a 2-1 win over Benfica in the 2012/2013 Europa League final. Ashley Cole was part of Roma from 2014 to 2016 and in the 2016 January transfer window he signed a deal with MLS club LA Galaxy. The left-footed defender made 29 appearances for Galaxy last season, scoring only one goal in the process. The experience footballer, who was born on December 20, 1980 in London, made his England debut against Albania in March, 2001. Speaking of his individual awards, Ashley Cole was named England Player of the Year in 2010.
Highlighted Team (Vancouver Whitecaps):
Vancouver Whitecaps are yet another Canadian side that compete in Major League Soccer. Vancouver began play in the USA top flight in 2011 and one year later they became the first Canadian outfit to book their place in the MLS Cup play-offs. However, star-studded Los Angeles Galaxy proved to be a big catch for the Whitecaps in the knockout round. Vancouver, though, did remarkably well to win the Canadian Championship in 2015, with the team beating Montreal Impact in the title game. In 2016 they made it to the final of the tournament as well, but Toronto FC eventually won the trophy. The Whitecaps are owned by Greg Kerfoot, Steve Luczo, Jeff Mallett and Steve Steve Nash, the former NBA star, and they play their home matches at BC Place. Speaking of MLS games, the capacity of the venue is 22.120 and you should know that the stadium was opened back in 1983. The Caps wear white shirts and white shorts when playing at home, while the colour of their away kit is blue.
