Our football match prediction:
After playing out a 2-2 draw with Los Angeles FC, New York City will be looking to return to winning ways in MLS when they welcome Colorado Rapids at their Yankee Stadium. Patrick Vieira’s men have big ambitions for the 2018 MLS campaign and they are definitely capable of going all the way in the MLS Cup this time out. David Villa scored his fifth goal of the season against Los Angeles FC and all eyes will be on the Spanish veteran when New York City take on Colorado Rapids in Saturday’s football match. Colorado, on the other hand, have been totally out of form of late. The Rapids suffered a 2-1 loss to New York Red Bulls at the weekend, with the team extending their losing run in the Major League Soccer to four games. The visitors heat into the match with the lack of confidence and we predict that they are going to return home empty-handed.
Highlighted Player (David Villa):
Over the years David Villa has established himself as one of the best attackers in the world. The Spanish superstar was producing excellent performances with Valencia from 2005 to 2010 and on May 19, 2010 Barcelona chiefs brought him to Camp Nou. “El Guaje” signed a four-year deal with Barca for a fee of €40 million and it is well known that he won a number of trophies with the Catalan giants. Villa clinched two La Liga titles with Barca (2011/2012, 2012/2013) and in 2011 he scored for Pep Guardiola’s team in a 3-1 victory over Manchester United in the Champions League final. After spending one season at Atletico Madrid, the Spain international joined New York City in June, 2014 and he has been playing for Patrick Vieira’s team ever since. Nonetheless, it has to be noted that he made four league appearances for Melbourne City during his loan spell with the Australian club. Villa’s international career was successful as well as he won both FIFA World Cup (2010) and UEFA European Championship (2008) with La Furia Roja.
Highlighted Team (Colorado Rapids):
Colorado Rapids are a Major League Soccer club and they compete in the USA professional soccer league as a member of the Western Conference. Colorado began their play in MLS back in 1996 and 14 years later they managed to win the MLS Cup trophy. The Rapids recorded a 2-1 win over FC Dallas in the final of the tournament, with George John scoring the winner for Gary Smith’s team in the extra time. Colorado made it to the MLS Cup final in 1997 as well, but D.C. United proved to be a big catch for the club in the title game. The Rapids play their home games at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park and the venue has been Colorado’s home ground since 2007. It has to be noted that the likes of Tim Howard, Carlos Valderama, Claudio Lopez and Jermaine Jones were all part of the club in the past. Colorado’s colours are red, sky blue and white, but they were yellow shirts and blue shorts when playing on the travels.
