Our prediction for this MLS match:
New York Red Bulls will be looking to give fans yet another reason for celebration when they welcome Philadelphia Union at their Red Bull Arena. The Metros have been scoring goals for fun of late and it has to be noted that they are eyeing their fifth consecutive win in the Major League Soccer. Bradley Wright-Phillips continues where he left last season and the experienced attacker, who has already netted 8 goals this term, is likely to prove a handful for the opposition defenders. New York seem to be on top of their game and we predict that they are going to pick up all three points from Sunday’s football match against Philadelphia Union, who are not regarded as good travelers. The U did well to crush Real Salt Lake at home (4-1) in their last league fixture, but beating the Metros at Red Bull Arena is easier said than done.
Highlighted Player (Haris Medunjanin):
After spending four seasons at AZ Alkmaar, Haris Medunjanin joined Spanish side Valladolid and he appeared in 42 league games for Pucela. The Bosnian midfielder played for the likes of Sparta Rotterdam, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Gaziantepspor in the past as well and in 2014 he returned to Spain, signing a contract with La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna. Medunjanin scored two goals in 24 league appearances for the Galician outfit and in 2016 he joined his former club Maccabi Tel Aviv on a one-and-a-half-year deal. The left-footed footballer, who was born on March 8, 1985 won two European Championship titles with Netherlands U-21 team (2006, 2007), but he decided to represent Bosnian and Herzegovina on senior level. He made his first start for the Balkan Dragons in a 1-0 loss to Portugal in the 2010 FIFA World Cup play-off match. Haris Medunjanin currently plays for Philadelphia Union and his contract with the MLS club expires on January 31, 2017.
Highlighted Team (Philadelphia Union):
Based in Chester, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia Union is an American soccer club that compete in Major League Soccer. The U have been participating in MLS since 2010, but they have yet to win the domestic trophy. Philadelphia welcome their opponents at Talen Energy Stadium, the venue that was opened on June 27, 2010 and current capacity of the stadium is 18.500.
The U made it to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final on two occasions (2014, 2015), but they were beaten by Seattle Sounders and Sporting Kansas City respectively in the title games. The likes of D.C. United and New York Red Bulls are regarded as the club’s fiercest rivals, but they share a rivalry with Seattle Sounders as well.
Philadelphia’s colors are navy blue and gold, but they wear white shirts and white socks when playing on the road. USA international Freddy Adu is one of the most notable footballers who player for the U in the past. The former Benfica man scored seven goals in 37 appearances for Philadelphia Union in MLS.
