Our football match prediction:
New York City were totally outplayed by Toronto FC in the Eastern Conference semi-finals last season, but the club chiefs decided not to make too many changes to the squad. Andrea Pirlo and David Silva are still part of the team and all eyes will be on the duo when the Metros face Orlando City in the opening match of the season. New York City aim to make a flying start to the season and we predict that they will adopt an attack-minded approach in Sunday’s football game against Jason Kreis’ charges. Orlando City head into the game following back-to-back wins over Philadelphia Union and DC United (friendlies) and that is giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of the visit of New York City. However, given the quality of the away team, we believe that they will pick up at least one point from the Camping World Stadium showdown.
Highligted Player (Pirlo):
Over the years Andrea Pirlo has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world. “The Architect” played for Milan from 2001 to 2011 and won two Serie A (2003/2004, 2010/2011) trophies with the Rossoneri during his spell at Stadio San Siro. Pirlo clinched two Champions League titles with Milan as well (2002/2003, 2006/2007), but in 2011 Juventus signed him on a free contract until 2014. The Italian superstar, who is well known for his brilliant passes, won four Serie A titles with the Bianconeri and, speaking of his international career, he helped Italy beat France in the 2006 FIFA World Cup final in Germany. On July 6, 2015 Andrea Pirlo completed a move to MLS club New York City and he has been playing for the Pigeons ever since. The Italian veteran scored one goal, while providing six assists for his teammates in the 2016 MLS campaign. Andrea Pirlo has always been praised for his technique, touch, balance and dribbling ability and, no doubt, he will be remembered as one of the most significant footballers of the 21st century.
Highlighted Team (New York City):
New York City are an American soccer club and they have been competing in Major League Soccer since 2015. The Pigeons play their home games at Yankee Stadium and they are the second club in New York after the New York Red Bulls. Famous Arsenal player Patrick Vieira took over the reins in January, 2016 and he helped the team finish the season in second place in the Eastern Conference. However, they were totally outclassed by Toronto FC (0-7 on aggregate) in the conference semifinals. New York City chiefs have been pumping up a lot of money into the squad ever since the team began play in MLS and it has to be noted that the likes of Andrea Pirlo and David Villa played for the Pigeons in the 2016 season. New York City footballers wear sky blue shirts when playing at home, while the colour of the team’s away kit is dark blue. Companies City Football Group (80%) and Yankee Global Enterprises own the club.
