Our football match prediction:
Orlando City kicked off the new MLS campaign with a hard-fought victory over star-studded New York City. Canadian striker Cyle Larin scored the winner in the season opener and he is widely expected to lead the line for the hosts against Philadelphia Union. The bad news for the fans is that key midfielder Ricardo Kaka suffered a hamstring injury against Patrick Vieira’s team and it has to be noted that Orlando City will be without the Brazilian ace for about six weeks. Anyhow, coach Jason Kreis has a number of high-profile players to choose from and seeing that the Lions are a real force to be reckoned with at home, we predict that they will give fans yet another reason for celebration. Philadelphia Union shared the spoils with the likes of Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto in the opening two games of the season, but they are unlikely to spoil Orlando’s party in Saturday’s football match at Orlando City Stadium.
Highligted Player (Ricardo Kaka):
Ricardo Kaka is regarded as one of the most significant MLS stars. The Brazilian ace spent six seasons (2003/2009) at Stadio San Siro with Milan and he scored 70 goals in 193 league appearances for the Rossoneri. In 2007 he helped the Serie A giants beat Liverpool in the Champions League final. Real Madrid chiefs were eager to sign Kaka and they managed to bring him to Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on June 30, 2009. The Brazil international, though, was playing below expectations for Real Madrid and due to the lack of first-team football he decided to return to Milan in 2013. Kaka scored seven goals in 30 league appearances in his second spell with the Rossoneri and in 2014 he moved to MLS, signing a contract with Orlando City. Speaking of his international career, the Orlando City superstar clinched the FIFA World Cup trophy with Brazil in 2002. It has to be noted that Kaka was named FIFA World Player of the Year in 2007.
Highlighted Team (Philadelphia Union):
Based in Chester, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia Union are an American soccer club that compete in Major League Soccer. The U have been participating in MLS since 2010, but they have yet to win the domestic trophy. Philadelphia welcome their opponents at Talen Energy Stadium, the venue that was opened on June 27, 2010 and current capacity of the stadium is 18.500. The U made it to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final on two occasions (2014, 2015), but they were beaten by Seattle Sounders and Sporting Kansas City respectively in the title games. The likes of D.C. United and New York Red Bulls are regarded as the club’s fiercest rivals, but they share a rivalry with Seattle Sounders as well. Philadelphia’s colours are navy blue and gold, but they wear white shirts and white socks when playing on the road. USA international Freddy Adu is one of the most notable footballers who player for the U in the past. The former Benfica man scored seven goals in 37 appearances for Philadelphia Union in MLS.
