Our football match prediction:
Real Salt Lake are coming from a frustrating week and will be looking to make a big impression in their match against Columbus Crew this weekend. In addition to their 1-1 draw with Sporting Kansas City which got them stuck outside the playoffs zone with 24 points to their name, Real Salt Lake saw their manager get sent off in the 72nd minute, just a day after the independent panel rejected the club’s appeal to rescind Kyle Beckerman’s red card from Wednesday’s match in Portland. Real Salt Lake coach Mike Petke went on an emotional rant during his post-match press conference providing visual aids to prove the referees had it all wrong with their decision to send off his player.
The forthcoming match against the in-form Columbus Crew is of great importance for Real Salt Lake who need some consistency in their results in order to get back in the running for the playoffs places. Lake’s home form does not offer great reassurances, but Petke’s men will be determined to bounce back from the 1-1 draw against Sporting Kansas City anyways.
