Our football match prediction:
CenturyLink field will host Saturday’s football match between Seattle Sounders and Atlanta United. The Sounders have been having their ups and downs at the start of the season, following a 2-1 loss to Houston Dynamo, Brian Schmetzer’s team played out a 2-2 draw with Montreal Impact at Stade Olympique and, to make things even better for the fans, they outplayed New York Red Bulls in their last league match. Clint Dempsey impressed in USA’s 6-0 win over Honduras, scoring a hat-trick for the Yanks and we predict that the former Tottenham Hotspur ace is going to pose a big threat for Atlanta United defenders. The newcomers rolled over the likes of Minnesota United (6-1) and Chicago Fire in previous two games in MLS, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in Sunday’s clash against the reigning champions and, taking everything into account, away win should not be considered.
Highlighted Player (Clint Dempsey):
Clint Dempsey is regarded as one of the most significant MLS stars. The USA veteran was born on March 9, 1983 and he gain popularity during his spell with Fulham. Dempsey scored 50 goals in 184 league appearances for the Cottagers and, as a result, Tottenham Hotspur owners decided to bring him to White Hart Lane in the summer of 2012. The USA international, though, was struggling to find his best form in the 2012/2013 Premier League campaign and he netted only seven goals in 29 league fixtures. From 2004 to 2006 Dempsey played for New England Revolution and in 2013 he returned to MLS, signing a four-year contract with Seattle Sounders for a fee of $9 million. He made his Seattle debut on August 20, 2013, coming as a substitute in a 2-1 win over Toronto. In 2016 Clint Dempsey helped the Sounders clinch the MLS Cup trophy and, speaking of his international titles, it has to be noted that he won the CONCACAF Gold Cup with USA on two occasions (2005, 2007).
Highlighted Team (Atlanta United):
Atlanta United are a Major League Soccer club and they were founded on April 16, 2014. They are based in Atlanta, Georgia and they will make their debut in MLS in 2017. Arthur Blank is the club’s owner and Bobby Dodd Stadium is Atlanta United’s home ground. Arthur Blank is an American businessman, who is well known for his ownership of the NFL club Atlanta Falcons. The venue was opened on September 27, 1913 and its’ current capacity is 60.316. However, it has to be noted that the team will play first eight home games of the 2017 season at Bobby Dodd Stadium, while the latter nine fixtures will be hosted by Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Speaking of the club’s colours, Atlanta United footballers wear black and red shirts and black shorts with a little bit of gold mixed in. Gerardo Martino, who used to be in charge of La Liga side Barcelona in the past, will coach Atlanta United in the 2017 MLS season. Tata Martino won the Spanish Super Cup with Barca, while making it to the Copa America final with Argentina on two occasions (2015, 2016).
