Our football match prediction:
Seattle Sounders play host to Los Angeles Galaxy at their CenturyLink Field on Monday. The title holders aim to start a new winning run in the Major League Soccer after failing to beat the likes of Vancouver Whitecaps and Portland Timbers in previous two games and they are likely to adopt an attack-minded approach against LA Galaxy. Seattle Sounders sit in top position in the Western Conference at the moment, but they are only one point clear of second-place Portland Timbers, meaning that Monday’s football match is of big importance for the reigning champions. Clint Dempsey returns from international duty for the hosts and we predict that he is going to pose a big threat for the opposition back-line. Curt Onalfo’s men have been struggling on the travels of late and, taking everything into account, they are unlikely to spoil Seattle’s party at CenturyLink Field.
Highligted Player (Clint Dempsey):
Clint Dempsey is regarded as one of the most significant MLS stars. The USA veteran was born on March 9, 1983 and he gain popularity during his spell with Fulham. Dempsey scored 50 goals in 184 league appearances for the Cottagers and, as a result, Tottenham Hotspur owners decided to bring him to White Hart Lane in the summer of 2012. The USA international, though, was struggling to find his best form in the 2012/2013 Premier League campaign and he netted only seven goals in 29 league fixtures. From 2004 to 2006 Dempsey played for New England Revolution and in 2013 he returned to MLS, signing a four-year contract with Seattle Sounders for a fee of $9 million. He made his Seattle debut on August 20, 2013, coming as a substitute in a 2-1 win over Toronto. In 2016 Clint Dempsey helped the Sounders clinch the MLS Cup trophy and, speaking of his international titles, it has to be noted that he won the CONCACAF Gold Cup with USA on two occasions (2005, 2007).
Highlighted Team (Los Angeles Galaxy):
Los Angeles Galaxy are probably the most famous American soccer club. The club have been participating in the MLS since 1996 and San Jose Earthquakes are considered their bitterest rivals. A number of top-class players were part of the team in the past, but, no doubt, David Beckham is the club’s most significant star. The former Manchester United star played for LA Galaxy from 2007 to 2012 and he scored 18 goals in 98 appearances in the league for the club. Fellow England international Steven Gerrard is yet another Premier League ace who joined LA Galaxy. Stevie G signed a $9 million deal with the club in June, 2015. One year before he arrived to Los Angeles, the Galaxy won their fifth MLS Cup, with the team beating New England Revolution (2-1) in the final of the tournament, but winning of the CONCACAF Champions League in 2000 is considered the club’s biggest success. The MLS outfit outplayed Olimpia of Hunduras in the title game, with Ezra Hendrickson scoring the winning goal ten minutes before the final whistle. Los Angeles Galaxy play their home games at StubHub Center, the stadium that was opened on June 1, 2003. The capacity of the venue is 27.000.
