Our prediction for this MLS match:
CenturyLink Field will host Saturday’s football game between Seattle Sounders and Real Salt Lake. Seattle Sounders did well to make it to the MLS Cup final last term, but they have not been as successful in the 2018 season. Clint Dempsey and Co. sit in the 11th place in the standings ahead of Saturday’s football match and, no doubt, they are eager to get back on course. The game against Real Salt Lake is of big importance for the hosts and we predict that they are going to leave their hearts on the field this time out. The Royals, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 4-1 loss to Philadelphia Union, meaning that they are eager to give fans some cheer as well. Anyhow, considering that the Royals have been struggling on the road of late, we are tempted to put our money on the hosts.
Highlighted Player (Clint Dempsey):
Clint Dempsey is regarded as one of the most significant MLS stars. The USA veteran was born on March 9, 1983 and he gain popularity during his spell with Fulham. Dempsey scored 50 goals in 184 league appearances for the Cottagers and, as a result, Tottenham Hotspur owners decided to bring him to White Hart Lane in the summer of 2012.
The USA international, though, was struggling to find his best form in the 2012/2013 Premier League campaign and he netted only seven goals in 29 league fixtures. From 2004 to 2006 Dempsey played for New England Revolution and in 2013 he returned to MLS, signing a four-year contract with Seattle Sounders for a fee of $9 million. He made his Seattle debut on August 20, 2013, coming as a substitute in a 2-1 win over Toronto.
In 2016 Clint Dempsey helped the Sounders clinch the MLS Cup trophy and, speaking of his international titles, it has to be noted that he won the CONCACAF Gold Cup with USA on two occasions (2005, 2007).
Highlighted Team (Real Salt Lake):
Real Salt Lake joined Major League Soccer in 2005 as an expansion team of the league and four years later they won their first MLS Cup. The Royals faced star-studded Los Angeles Galaxy in the title game at Qwest Field in Seattle and Jason Kreis’ troops defeated David Beckham and Co. on penalties.
In 2013 Real Salt Lake made it to the MLS Cup final for the second time in the club’s history, but they were beaten by Sporting Kansas City on penalties this time out. The Royals participated in the CONCACAF Champions League final in 2011 as well, but Monterrey of Mexico eventually won the title. Real Salt Lake footballers wear red shirts and blue shorts when playing at home, while the colour of their away kit is white.
The likes of Clint Mathis, Jeff Cunningham and Eddie Pope are some of the notable footballers who played for the club in the past. Jeff Cunningham scored 19 goals in 32 appearances in the league for the Royals.
