Our football match prediction:
Children’s Mercy Park will host Sunday’s football game between Sporting Kansas City and Portland Timbers. Sporting Kansas City are eyeing their third consecutive win in MLS and a win over Portland will see them retain their spot in top two in the Western Conference. The Wizards have been impressive at the back of late as well and it remains to be seen if they are going to keep their third consecutive clean sheet this weekend. A man to watch in the home team will be former Derby County winger Johnny Russell, who has netted seven goals in MLS so far this term. Portland Timbers, on the other hand, are enjoying a very successful season and they could secure a top-two finish as well if they continue to improve their game. Sporting and Portland seem to be evenly matched at the moment and we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw.
Highlighted Player (Diego Rubio):
Diego Rubio is a Chilean attacker who signed his first professional deal with Colo-Colo. Rubio, though, made only eight league appearances (scoring three goals) for the Chilean outfit and in 2011 he moved to Europe, signing a deal with Primeira Liga team Sporting Lisbon. After playing only 11 league matches for the Lions, the 179-cm tall striker joined Spanish club Valladolid at the age of 22. It has to be noted that during his spell with Sporting Lisbon he was loaned to the likes of Pandurii Targu Kiu and Sandnes Ulf. On September 1, 2016 Diego Rubio signed a permanent teal with Sporting Kansas City and he has been playing for the MLS club ever since. Rubio was born on May 15, 1993 in Santiago, the capital of Chile, and he made his debut for the Chilean national football team in June, 2011 against Paraguay. His contract with Sporting Kansas City expires on June 30, 2017.
Highlighted Team (Portland Timbers):
Founded in 2009, Portland Timbers are a soccer club based in Portland, Oregon. The Timbers are well known for their green kit and their secondary colours are red and black. Portland welcome their opponents at Providence Park and the capacity of their home ground is 21.144. The club hold a long-running rivalry with Seattle Sounders as the two clubs used to face each other in the North American Soccer League. In 2015 Portland Timbers did remarkably well to win the MLS Cup and that is considered the club’s biggest success. The Timbers defeated Columbus Crew in the final of the tournament and it has to be noted that the title game was hosted by Mapfre Stadium (Columbus). Former Premier League footballer Liam Ridgewell played for Portland in the 2015 MLS Cup final against Columbus Crew. Speaking of the club’s supporters, you should have in mind that the Timbers sold out almost every home game in the MLS. Portland’s main supporters group is the Timbers Army.
