Our prediction for this MLS match:
There will be fireworks when Sporting Kansas City and Portland Timbers face each other at Children’s Mercy Park in the Western Conference final, return leg. Seeing that the two teams played out a goalless draw in the first leg, yet another close encounter is on the cards and we predict that one goal will separate the two sides in Friday’s football game. The Wizards are a real force to be reckoned with at home and seeing that they recorded five wins in previous seven home games in MLS, we are tempted to put our money on the hosts. The Timbers, on the other hand, have not been impressive on the road this season, which is yet another reason why home win should be considered. A man to watch in the home team will be Johhny Russell, who has netted 10 goals so far this term.
Highlighted Player (Diego Rubio):
Diego Rubio is a Chilean attacker who signed his first professional deal with Colo-Colo. Rubio, though, made only eight league appearances (scoring three goals) for the Chilean outfit and in 2011 he moved to Europe, signing a deal with Primeira Liga team Sporting Lisbon. After playing only 11 league matches for the Lions, the 179-cm tall striker joined Spanish club Valladolid at the age of 22.
It has to be noted that during his spell with Sporting Lisbon he was loaned to the likes of Pandurii Targu Kiu and Sandnes Ulf. On September 1, 2016 Diego Rubio signed a permanent teal with Sporting Kansas City and he has been playing for the MLS club ever since.
Rubio was born on May 15, 1993 in Santiago, the capital of Chile, and he made his debut for the Chilean national football team in June, 2011 against Paraguay. His contract with Sporting Kansas City expires on June 30, 2017.
Highlighted Team (Portland Timbers):
Founded in 2009, Portland Timbers is a soccer club based in Portland, Oregon. The Timbers are well known for their green kit and their secondary colours are red and black. Portland welcome their opponents at Providence Park and the capacity of their home ground is 21.144.
The club hold a long-running rivalry with Seattle Sounders as the two clubs used to face each other in the North American Soccer League. In 2015 Portland Timbers did remarkably well to win the MLS Cup and that is considered the club’s biggest success.
The Timbers defeated Columbus Crew in the final of the tournament and it has to be noted that the title game was hosted by Mapfre Stadium (Columbus).
Former Premier League footballer Liam Ridgewell played for Portland in the 2015 MLS Cup final against Columbus Crew. Speaking of the club’s supporters, you should have in mind that the Timbers sold out almost every home game in the MLS. Portland’s main supporters group is the Timbers Army.
