Our prediction for this MLS match:
Atlanta United made a very slow start to the season, but they have been showing signs of improvement of late. The Five Stripes quickly bounced back from a shocking 2-1 loss to Dallas, with the team beating Colorado Rapids at home in their last league fixture. The title holders aim to keep on raising their form and we are positive that they are going to leave their hearts on the field in Monday’s football match against Sporting.
As always, last season’s MVP Josef Martinez is going to lead the line for the visitors. The Wizards, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 4-4 draw with New England Revolution, which is yet another reason why we are tempted to put our money on the away team. You should bear in mind that Sporting Kansas City are on a six-game winless run in all competitions at the moment.
Highlighted Player (Johnny Russell):
After spending the greatest part of his career at Derby County, Johnny Russell joined Sporting Kansas City in 2018. Russell was born in Glasgow, the capital of Scotland, on April 8, 1990 and he started his youth career at Dundee United.
The 178-cm tall attacker was producing fine performances for the Scottish side from 2007 to 2013 when he moved to Derby County. The Rams booked their place in the Championship on several occassions, but they eventually failed to secure promotion to the Premier League. As a result, Johnny Russell decided to move to MLS, signing a three-year deal with Sporting Kansas city on January 31, 2018.
The Scotland international made his debut for the Wizards in the opening match of the 2019 season against New York City. Speaking of his debut for the national team, he played his first game for Scotland in November 2014 in a 3-1 loss to England. His main position is left winger, but he is capable of playing as both centre-forward and right winger as well.
Highlighted Team (Atlanta United):
Atlanta United is a Major League Soccer club and they were founded on April 16, 2014. They are based in Atlanta, Georgia and they will make their debut in MLS in 2017. Arthur Blank is the club’s owner and Bobby Dodd Stadium is Atlanta United’s home ground.
Arthur Blank is an American businessman, who is well known for his ownership of the NFL club Atlanta Falcons. The venue was opened on September 27, 1913 and its’ current capacity is 60.316. However, it has to be noted that the team will play first eight home games of the 2017 season at Bobby Dodd Stadium, while the latter nine fixtures will be hosted by Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Speaking of the club’s colors, Atlanta United footballers wear black and red shirts and black shorts with a little bit of gold mixed in. Gerardo Martino, who used to be in charge of La Liga side Barcelona in the past, will coach Atlanta United in the 2017 MLS season. Tata Martino won the Spanish Super Cup with Barca, while making it to the Copa America final with Argentina on two occasions (2015, 2016).
