Our football match prediction:
High-flying Toronto will be looking to build on back-to-back victories over Portland Timbers and Chicago Fire when they welcome Philadelphia Union at their BMO Field. The attacking partnership of Jozy Altidore and Sebastian Giovinco has been in a perfect working order this season and we predict that they are going to prove a handful for the opposition defenders. The Reds aim to cement top position in the Eastern Conference and seeing that Philadelphia’s displays on the road leave a lot to be desired, there is every chance the Canadian club will extend their winning run in MLS to three games. The U have recorded no more than one win on the road this season and they are unlikely to spoil Toronto’s party in Thursday’s football match at BMO Field. You should bear in mind that the Reds are after their tenth home win of the season.
Highlighted Player (Sebastian Giovinco):
Sebastian Giovinco is the Italian football ace who plays for Toronto FC as a forward. His side position is attacking midfielder and he is undisputedly the team’s key player. Giovinco began his senior career at Juventus and he played for the likes of Empoli and Parma on loan during his spell at Serie A as well. The 162-cm tall footballer joined Toronto on January 19, 2015 and he has been playing for the Canadian outfit ever since. Giovinco scored 21 goals in 34 league fixtures in the 2016 MLS campaign and he is likely to play an important role in Greg Vanney’s team in the 2017 season. The Italian star made his debut for the Azzurri on February 9, 2011 in a 1-1 draw with Germany in Dortmund and it has to be noted that he won a silver medal with Italy national football team at the 2012 European Championship. Sebastian Giovinco was born in Turin on January 26, 1987 and in May 2013 his wife Shari gave birth to their first child Jacopo.
Highlighted Team (Philadelphia Union):
Based in Chester, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia Union are an American soccer club that compete in Major League Soccer. The U have been participating in MLS since 2010, but they have yet to win the domestic trophy. Philadelphia welcome their opponents at Talen Energy Stadium, the venue that was opened on June 27, 2010 and current capacity of the stadium is 18.500. The U made it to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final on two occasions (2014, 2015), but they were beaten by Seattle Sounders and Sporting Kansas City respectively in the title games. The likes of D.C. United and New York Red Bulls are regarded as the club’s fiercest rivals, but they share a rivalry with Seattle Sounders as well. Philadelphia’s colours are navy blue and gold, but they wear white shirts and white socks when playing on the road. USA international Freddy Adu is one of the most notable footballers who player for the U in the past. The former Benfica man scored seven goals in 37 appearances for Philadelphia Union in MLS.
