Our prediction for this MLS match:
Toronto will be aiming to build on a 3-0 victory over Philadelphia Union when they welcome Seattle Sounders at their BMO Field on Thursday. The Reds desperately needed a win at the weekend and they managed to get one. The triumph over the U undisputedly gave them a confidence boost, but they do not want to stop now. The title holders aim to give fans yet another reason for celebration and we predict they will go all guns blazing at their old rivals Seattle Sounders. A man to watch in the home team will be Sebastian Giovinco, who finally opened his goal-scoring account at the weekend. The Sounders have been playing below expectations at the start of the 2018 MLS campaign and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Toronto’s party at BMO Field. In their last meeting in Canada the Reds recorded a 2-0 win over the Sounders.
Highlighted Player (Sebastian Giovinco):
Sebastian Giovinco is the Italian football ace who plays for Toronto FC as a forward. His side position is attacking midfielder and he is undisputedly the team’s key player. Giovinco began his senior career at Juventus and he played for the likes of Empoli and Parma on loan during his spell at Serie A as well. The 162-cm tall footballer joined Toronto on January 19, 2015 and he has been playing for the Canadian outfit ever since. Giovinco scored 21 goals in 34 league fixtures in the 2016 MLS campaign and he is likely to play an important role in Greg Vanney’s team in the 2017 season. The Italian star made his debut for the Azzurri on February 9, 2011 in a 1-1 draw with Germany in Dortmund and it has to be noted that he won a silver medal with Italy national football team at the 2012 European Championship. Sebastian Giovinco was born in Turin on January 26, 1987 and in May 2013 his wife Shari gave birth to their first child Jacopo.
Highlighted Team (Seattle Sounders):
Seattle Sounders are an American soccer club that compete in the Western Conference of Major League Soccer. The Sounders are owned by the likes of Joe Roth, Paul Allen, Drew Carey and Adrian Hanauer and they play their home games at CenturyLink Field.
The club won the 2016 MLS Cup, with the team beating Toronto FC on penalties in the trophy game at BMO Field. Swiss goalkeeper Stefan Frei won the MVP honor after pulling off several brilliant saves in the 2016 MLS Cup final.
Winning of the MLS Cup is undisputedly the club’s biggest success, but it has to be noted that the Sounders clinched the Supporters’ Shield trophy in 2014. Seattle hold rivalry with Portland Timbers, but Vancouver Whitecaps are regarded as the club’s bitter rivals as well.
Experienced attacker Clint Dempsey is undisputedly the club’s most significant star and he has been playing for the CenturyLink Field outfit since 2014. He scored eight goals in the league in the 2016 season and, no doubt, he helped the Sounders win their first ever MLS Cup.
