Our football match prediction:
Vancouver Whitecaps suffered a heavy 4-0 loss to high-flying Chicago Fire at the weekend, but that should not be considered a big surprise. The Canadian outfit often struggle on the travels, but you should know that they suffered only one loss in their last six home games in MLS. Vancouver are eyeing their fifth home win of the season, but Thursday’s football match against New York City will be anything but a walk in the park for the hosts. The Metros are on a four-game winning run in the league ahead of the trip to Canada and they outplayed Minnesota United at the weekend. Sean Johnson will represent USA at the 2017 Gold Cup and we predict that he is going to be sorely missed in Thursday’s MLS clash. David Villa will lead the line for the visitors and given New York’s good form, both teams to score bet should be considered in this one.
Highlighted Player (Kendall Watson):
Kendall Waston is yet another Costa Rican footballer who plays in MLS. The Vancouver Whitecaps centre back started his senior career at Sarprissa of Costa Rica and he played for the likes of Carmelita, Nacional, Bayamon, UCR and Perez Zeledon (on loan) in the past as well. Waston moved to MLS in the summer of 2014, signing a deal with Vancouver Whitecaps. The Costa Rica international scored only two goals in 11 appearances for the club in the 2014 season, but the club chiefs decided to keep hold of him. He found the net twice in 30 league games in the 2015 MLS campaign, while scoring three goals in his last season with the Canadian club. Kendall Waston was born in San Jose, Costa Rica on January 1, 1988 and he made his debut for the Costa Rica national team in May, 2013 in a match against Canada. The Vancouver Whitecaps forward scored his first goal for los Ticos on December 16, 2015 in a 1-0 victory over Nicaragua.
Highlighted Team (New York City):
New York City are an American soccer club and they have been competing in Major League Soccer since 2015. The Pigeons play their home games at Yankee Stadium and they are the second club in New York after the New York Red Bulls. Famous Arsenal player Patrick Vieira took over the reins in January, 2016 and he helped the team finish the season in second place in the Eastern Conference. However, they were totally outclassed by Toronto FC (0-7 on aggregate) in the conference semifinals. New York City chiefs have been pumping up a lot of money into the squad ever since the team began play in MLS and it has to be noted that the likes of Andrea Pirlo and David Villa played for the Pigeons in the 2016 season. New York City footballers wear sky blue shirts when playing at home, while the colour of the team’s away kit is dark blue. Companies City Football Group (80%) and Yankee Global Enterprises own the club.
