Our football match prediction:
By rolling over San Jose Earthquakes (5-0) at their BC Place, Vancouver Whitecaps set up a meeting with Seattle Sounders in the Western Conference semis. Fredy Montero proved his worth in the triumph over San Jose and the Colombian attacker is likely to lead the line for the hosts against Seattle. Gabriel Mezquida came as a substitute and scored a brace in the win over the Earthquakes and he is widely expected to return to the starting line-up. Vancouver have been impressive at home ground this season and despite the fact that they face the title holders at their BC Place in Monday’s football game, we predict that the Canadian outfit will emerge triumphant in the first leg. Seattle failed to score in previous three away games in MLS and there is every chance Clint Dempsey and Co, who finished the regular part of the season in second place in the Western Conference, will return home empty-handed.
Highligted Player (Kendall Watson):
Kendall Waston is yet another Costa Rican footballer who plays in MLS. The Vancouver Whitecaps centre back started his senior career at Sarprissa of Costa Rica and he played for the likes of Carmelita, Nacional, Bayamon, UCR and Perez Zeledon (on loan) in the past as well. Waston moved to MLS in the summer of 2014, signing a deal with Vancouver Whitecaps. The Costa Rica international scored only two goals in 11 appearances for the club in the 2014 season, but the club chiefs decided to keep hold of him. He found the net twice in 30 league games in the 2015 MLS campaign, while scoring three goals in his last season with the Canadian club. Kendall Waston was born in San Jose, Costa Rica on January 1, 1988 and he made his debut for the Costa Rica national team in May, 2013 in a match against Canada. The Vancouver Whitecaps forward scored his first goal for los Ticos on December 16, 2015 in a 1-0 victory over Nicaragua.
Highlighted Team (Seattle Sounders):
Seattle Sounders are an American soccer club that compete in the Western Conference of Major League Soccer. The Sounders are owned by the likes of Joe Roth, Paul Allen, Drew Carey and Adrian Hanauer and they play their home games at CenturyLink Field. The club won the 2016 MLS Cup, with the team beating Toronto FC on penalties in the trophy game at BMO Field. Swiss goalkeeper Stefan Frei won the MVP honour after pulling off several brilliant saves in the 2016 MLS Cup final. Winning of the MLS Cup is undisputedly the club’s biggest success, but it has to be noted that the Sounders clinched the Supporters’ Shield trophy in 2014. Seattle hold rivalry with Portland Timbers, but Vancouver Whitecaps are regarded as the club’s bitter rivals as well. Experienced attacker Clint Dempsey is undisputedly the club’s most significant star and he has been playing for the CenturyLink Field outfit since 2014. He scored eight goals in the league in the 2016 season and, no doubt, he helped the Sounders win their first ever MLS Cup.
