Our prediction for this Nations League match:
Thanks to a 2-0 win over Liechtenstein FYR Macedonia moved one step closer to securing promotion to UEFA Nations League C. The former Yugoslav republic proved their worth in the victory over Liechtenstein on Friday evening, but it has to be noted that the hosts played almost entire second half with ten men on the field. Anyhow, the Macedonians are only one point away from cementing top position in Group 4, but seeing that they play host to Gibraltar in their last group game, we predict that the hosts are going to finish the process with yet another victory. The minnows experienced all sorts of problems at the back in the 6-2 loss to Armenia and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling FYR Macedonia’s party at Telekom Arena. In their first meeting in the Nations League the Macedonians defeated Gibraltar 2-0.
Highlighted Player (Darko Velkovski):
Born in Skopje, Macedonia on June 22, 1995 Darko Velkovski is a professional footballer who plays for Vardar as a centre-back. Darko Velkovski started his career at the youth team of Makedonija Gjorche Petrov and in 2011 he moved to Rabotnicki.
The 188-cm tall defender scored 11 goals in 109 appearances for the Romantics before joining fellow Macedonian side Vardar in 2015. Darko Velkovski has established himself as a first-team regular at the capital club and he made 28 appearances for the Crveno-Crni in the 2016/2017 Macedonian Prva Liga campaign. Velkovski, whose contract with Vardar expires on June 30, 2018, started for the Macedonian champions in a historical 2-1 win at Fenerbahce in the 2017/2018 Europa League play-offs, return leg.
Darko Velkovski made his Macedonia debut on June 18, 2014 in a 2-0 loss to China in a friendly. His main position is centre-back, but he is capable of playing as both defensive and central midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Gibraltar):
Gibraltar played their first unofficial match against Jersey in the 1993 Island Games. The Gibraltarians suffered a 2-1 loss to Jersey, but they did well to hold Slovakia to a goalless draw in their first official international match. Gibraltar participated in the 2016 World Cup qualifiers and they were drawn in Group D alongside Germany, Poland, Georgia, Republic of Ireland and Scotland. They failed to impress on their debut in the World Cup qualifiers and it has to be noted that the minnows suffered a loss in each of their ten group games (goal difference 2:56). Gibraltar recorded their first ever win against Malta on April 6, 2014 and that is considered the team’s biggest success. Danny Higginbotham, who played for the likes of Manchester United, Southampton, Sunderland, Stoke City and Sheffield United during his professional career, has three caps for Gibraltar national football team and he is considered the greatest player who whore Gibraltar shirt. The Gibraltarians play their home games at Estadio Algarve, speaking of qualifying matches.
