Our football match prediction:
Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea will be meeting each other for the third time in a row in Champions League knockout stages, with the first two ties decided on away goals rule. Another close encounter is expected this time out, although the hosts have got to be considered favourites having been absolutely relentless this season. With another league title already in the bag, Laurent Blanc had the courtesy of resting his key men in weekend's draw with Lille, so chances are the Saints will not be too concerned to have ended a 17-match winning run on all fronts. The Blues, on the other hand, have shown some improvement under Guus Hiddink, but they are still far from the desired form, even though the comprehensive win over Newcastle United will have raised the spirits ahead of the trip to Parc des Princes. We don't predict PSG to have an easy job against their more illustrious opponents, but we are backing them to create an advantage ahead of the return leg.
Highlighted Player (David Luiz):
The Brazilian defender David Luiz started his football career in the youth in Vitoria, one of the five oldest football clubs of Brazil. Luiz makes his debut in 2005 in the club\'s first team and will continue to play football until 2007.In 2007, the Portuguese Benfica gets David to Europe where he is the substitute of Ricardo Rocha. He first comes on loan, later Benfica takes him finally over. From the 2009-2010 season Luiz becomes a fixture and one sees that it has achieved a class defender at home. The Portuguese give him a new contract with a fixed transfer fee for interested clubs from 50 million euros. David Luiz plays from 2006 to 2010 in Benefica. In 2010,with this club, he becomes champion in Portugal. In both 2009 and 2010 the Taca Da Liga is won, the second Portuguese Cup competition. In October 2011, the English Chelsea makes a bid of 25 million euros on the defender. A transfer that Benfica (despite Luiz contracted price of 50 million)cannot deny. Although David Luiz not immediately gets a starting position, he is, with 20 league games and 11 matches in the Championsleague in the 2011-2012 season, hugely important for the team. Luiz also won the Champions League that year. From the 2012-2013 season, Luiz is a basicplayer for Chelsea. He knows the club that season does not overwinter in the Champions League but manages to win the Europa League. In the 2013-2014 season he played 34 official matches for Chelsea eight in the Champions League. In the Premier League the club finishes third in the Champions League Londoners in the semi-finals to be eliminated by Atletico Madrid (3-1).
Highlighted Team (Chelsea):
Over the years Chelsea have established themselves as one of the dominant forces in the English Premier League. Roberto Di Matteo helped the team win their first ever Champions League trophy (2011/2012), but it has to be noted that they were more than fortunate to beat Bayern Munich in the title game. Chelsea have been playing at Stamford Bridge since 1876 and they are a real force to be reckoned with at home. The Blues have won seven FA Cups, five League Cups, two UEFA Cup Winners’ Cups and the UEFA Europa League. Rafael Benitez was in charge of the team that faced Benfica in the 2012/2013 Europa League final, with Branislav Ivanovic scoring the winner for the Blues in the title clash. After lifting the 2014/2015 Premier League trophy, the Blues largely struggled in the next campaign, which saw Jose Mourinho’s second spell with the club come to an end, and Antoine Conte went over to take the reigns for the 2016/2017 season.
