Our prediction for this Portugal Primeira Liga match:
Estadio Joao Cardoso will host Sunday’s football game between Tondela and Famalicao, the two teams who sit in the bottom half of the table ahead of Matchday 12. Tondela do not seem to be at their sharpest at the moment, with the team failing to win the previous four league fixtures. Famalicao have been struggling to find their best form of late as well, and they are on a four-game winless run ahead of the first match of the year.
Anyhow, the two teams seem to be evenly matched at the moment, and we are tempted to put our money on draw. Argentina attacker Fenandzo Valenzuela is sidelined with injury for the visitors, while both Bebeto and Khacef are banned for the hosts after the duo was sent off in the 2-0 loss to Nacional. Keep in mind that under 2.5 goals have been netted in each of Tondela’s previous four home games in the Primeira Liga.
Highlighted Player (Jhon Murillo):
Jhon Murillo is a Venezuela international who was born in El Nula on November 21, 1995. After spending his youth career at San Camilo and Alto Apure, Murillo started playing for Zamora at the senior level.
The Venezuelan forward scored 19 goals in 59 appearances for el Blanquinegro before joining the famous Portuguese club Benfica. However, Murillo did not see any game action at Benfica in Primeira Liga as he was immediately sent on loan to Tondela. After ending his loan spell with the Auriverdes, Jhon Murillo signed a loan deal with Turkish club Kasimpasa in the 2017/2018 season.
In 2018 he returned to Tondela, signing a permanent contract with the Portuguese outfit. Speaking of his international career, the Tondela winger made his Venezuela debut on February 11, 2015, in a friendly against Honduras, scoring the winner on his debut. His primary position is left winger, but he is capable of producing excellent performances as a centre-forward as well.
Highlighted Team (Famalicao):
Founded on August 21, 1931, Famalicao are a Portuguese football club that compete in the Primeira Liga. The colour of their home kit is white, with the team wearing blue shirts and blue shorts when playing on the travels.
Famalicao welcome their rivals at Estadio Municipal 22 de Junho Vila Nova de Famalicao, the venue with the capacity of 5,307 people. The stadium was opened in 1952 and ever since has been serving as the team’s home ground. Famalicao are owned by Quantum Pacific Group, the company which has a 32% share of famous La Liga side Atletico Madrid as well.
The Azuis e Brancos secured promotion to Primeira Liga for the first time in the 1946/1947 season and they returned to the Portuguese elite division in 2019. Famalicao recorded a 2-0 win over Santa Clara on their return to the Portuguese top flight, with Toni Martinez and Anderson finding the net for the visitors.
