Our football match prediction:
Turf Moor will host Monday’s relegation six-pointer between Burnley and Middlesbrough. The Clarets produced a fine display against Tottenham at White Hart Lane, but Danny Rose eventually spoiled their party in London. Sean Dyche’s troops suffered five defeats in last six league matches and it is no surprise they are sitting in the relegation zone ahead of the Boxing Day clash against Middlesbrough. Nonetheless, the team’s showings are better than their results and we predict that the hosts are going to return to winning ways on Matchday 18. Middlesbrough rolled over Swansea City at their Riverside Stadium at the weekend (3-0), but the newcomers are on a seven-game winless run on the road and they are unlikely to grab something from Monday’s football match. A man to watch in the away team will be former Manchester City attacker Alvaro Negredo, who scored a brace in the 3-0 win over Swansea.
Highlighted Player (Tom Heaton):
Tom Heaton is a goalkeeper who was born on 15 April, 1986 in Chester, England. Heaton played for Manchester United during his youth career, but he did not make a first-team debut for the Old Trafford outfit. During his period at Manchester United he played for several lower-league clubs on loan (Swindon Town, Royal Antwerp, Cardiff City, QPR, Rochdale, Wycombe Wanderers). After ending his loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers in 2010, the goalkeeper signed a contract with Cardiff City. After making 29 appearances for Bristol City in the Championship, he joined Burnley in 2013. He played for the Clarets in the 2014/2015 Premier League campaign, but he did not help the team avoid relegation to the English second tier. However, Tom Heaton and his teammates returned to the top flight at the end of the 2015/2016 campaign. Heaton made his England debut in a warm-up game against Australia in 2016 as the Three Lions recorded a 2-1 win over the Socceroos, while he was also a member of the squad that represented the country at the Euro 2016 finals.
Highlighted Team (Middlesbrough):
Middlesbrough are a professional football club that have been balancing between the top two divisions of England’s league system in the modern history. Boro have been playing their home games at the Riverside Stadium since 1995 and their shirt colour is red. The capacity of the Riverside Stadium is 34,742. Middlesbrough impressed in the 2015/2016 Championship campaign and they did really well to secure promotion to the English top flight. Newcastle United and Sunderland are regarded as the club’s main rivals, but there is a rivalry with Leeds United as well. Middlesbrough made it to the FA Cup final in 1997, but Chelsea proved to be a big catch for the Boro in the title game (0-2). However, the Riverside Stadium outfit did remarkably well to win the League Cup trophy in 2004, with the team beating Bolton Wanderers in the final. George Boateng, Stewart Downing, Juninho Paulista, Gareth Southgate, Jonathan Woodgate, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Tuncay Sanli and Hamilton Ricard are the star footballers who left their mark at Middlesbrough.
