Our football match prediction:
Monday’s football game at Stadium of Light pits together Sunderland and Liverpool, the two teams with entirely different ambitions in the 2016/2017 Premier League season. The Black Cats aim to secure the elite division survival, while the Reds will give their all to win the domestic trophy. Jurgen Klopp is doing a great job with the Anfield outfit and his men head into Monday’s clash against Sunderland following a 1-0 win over star-studded Manchester City. Liverpool are high on confidence ahead of their first game of the new year and we predict that they are going to stick to their attacking style of play. The Reds outplayed the likes of Middlesbrough and Everton in previous two away games in the league and they are definitely capable of beating the relegation-threatened team at Stadium of Light. Sunderland have been struggling at the back of late and they are unlikely to claim a major scalp on Matchday 20.
Highlighted Player (Patrick van Aanholt):
Patrick van Aanholt is a Dutch footballer who plays as a left back for Sunderland. The left-footed player joined Chelsea at the age of 19, but he made no more than two appearances for the Stamford Bridge outfit. After spending five years on loan spells at Coventry City, Newcastle United, Leicester City, Wigan Athletic and Vitesse Arnhem, he signed a contract with Sunderland in 2014 for a fee in the region of £2 million. Patrick van Aanholt impressed in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign with the Black Cats, scoring four goals in 33 appearances for Sam Allardyce’s troops. Speaking of his international career, the pacey full back made his Netherlands debut on 19 November, 2013 in a friendly game against Colombia. The two teams played out a goalless draw in Amsterdam and Van Aanholt came on as a substitute to replace injured ace Memphis Depay. Patrick van Aanholt was born in Hertogenbosch, but his parents are from Curacao.
Highlighted Team (Liverpool):
Founded back in 1892, Liverpool are one of England’s and world’s most famous clubs. The Reds hold a high-profile rivalry with Everton and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other in the Merseyside derby. The Reds welcome their opponents at Anfield and it has to be noted that they have already won 18 first division trophies. Liverpool were on the verge of lifting the 2014/2015 Premier League trophy, but Steven Gerrard slipped in the decider against Chelsea and left the Reds without a title. Liverpool won their last Champions League trophy in 2005, with the team coming from three goals behind to beat Milan in a historic clash in Istanbul. The Reds have clinched five European Cups and it is no surprise they are regarded as one of the greatest European clubs. The likes of Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler, Paul Ince, Ian Rush, Graeme Souness, Sami Hyypia and Luis Suarez are some of the most notable footballers to have represented the club over the years. The club’s anthem is You’ll Never Walk Alone and their shirt colour is red.
