Our football match prediction:
Ten-man Deportivo Alaves were more than unfortunate not to grab something from Sunday’s football game against Celta Vigo. The newcomers fought well in the Estadio de Balaidos clash, but they eventually conceded a goal in the dying seconds of the match. Celta put an end to Alaves’ nine-match winless run in all competitions and, no doubt, the hosts will give their all to get back on course. Deportivo Alaves produce much better performances on the road than on home soil, but they are definitely capable of beating fellow newcomers Leganes at their Estadio Mendizorroza. Leganes played out a goalless draw with Athletic Bilbao on Matchday 18 and it has to be noted that the team scored no more than one goal in previous three league fixtures. Alaves have been struggling in front of goal of late as well, meaning that a low-scoring affair appears on the horizon.
Highligted Player (Manu Barreiro):
Manu Barreiro is a professional player who was born on 8 July, 1986 in Compostela, Spain. Barreiro is a product of Real Madrid youth school, but he played for Valencia during his youth career as well. He made three appearances for Valencia B, but in 2005 he joined Lalin. He played for the likes of Algeciras, Cadiz, Jerez, Zamora, Cerceda, Pontevera and Ferrol in lower leagues as well and on 27 June 2014 he signed a contract with Segunda Division side Alaves. He scored 11 goals for the club in the 2014/2015 campaign and he netted five goals in 32 appearances for El Glorioso in the 2015/2016 Segunda Division campaign, helping the team secure promotion to La Liga. Manu Barreiro won Segunda Division B with Cadiz in the 2008/2009 season. Manu Barreiro is a centre forward, but he is capable of playing as a left winger as well. His contract with Alaves expires on 30 June, 2017.
Highlighted Team (Leganes):
Leganes are a Spanish football club that have mostly been playing in lower leagues. Los Pepineros play their home games at Batarque (Madrid) and the capacity of the stadium is just 8,138. Leganes secured their promotion to the Spanish La Liga for the first time ever in 2016 and, no doubt, that is considered the club’s biggest success. Leganes’ bitterest rivals are fellow capital club Getafe and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other in the South Madrid derby. The colour of the team’s home kit is white and blue, whilst their away kits are green. The likes of Pierre Webo, Samuel Eto’o, Ivan Zarandona, Jose Chamot, Catanha, Ruben Falcon, Jordi Lardin and Pedro Lago are famous players who were part of the Batarque outfit in the past. Lady Maria Victoria Pavon is the first female president in the history of the club and she has been in charge of the club since 2009.
