Our football match prediction:
Athletic Bilbao are a team with two faces. Over the years the Lions have turned their San Mames Barria into a real fortress, but they often struggle on the road. The Basques are eyeing their third consecutive win on home soil, but they can’t afford any complacency in Sunday’s football game against Granada. Ernesto Valverde’s troops aim to climb to the Europa League berth in the La Liga standings and we predict that they will extend their winning run at home ground. Granada, on the other hand, rolled over Real Betis in the Andalusian derby at the weekend, but Lucas Alcaraz’s men are on a four-match losing run on the road and they are unlikely to spoil Athletic Bilbao’s party at San Mames Barria. The Lions suffered a 2-0 loss to Valencia in their last league match and, taking everything into account, they are desperate to return to winning ways.
Highlighted Player (Iker Muniain):
Iker Munian was once considered one of the most talented players in Spain, but he obviously failed to reach his full potential. Munian is an attacking midfielder, who is capable of playing as a forward as well and he began his youth career at Chantrea. In 2005 he made probably the best decision of his career as he joined Athletic Bilbao youth academy. He made his debut for Athletic Bilbao on 30 July, 2009 in a 1-0 loss to Young Boys in the Europa League. Iker Munian impressed in the 2011/2012 La Liga campaign with the Lions, scoring nine goals in all competitions, but he failed to make a bigger progress. The Athletic Bilbao product has been struggling with injuries and it has to be noted that the injury he suffered against Sevilla on 4 April, 2015 could have ruined his career. However, he returned to action on 20 December, but he was playing below expectations in the second half of the season. Iker Munian made his Spain debut on 29 February, 2012 in a friendly against Venezuela. La Roja won the match 5-0 and Munian came as a substitute in the 74th minute of the match.
Highlighted Team (Granada):
Granada are an Andalusian football club that plays in Spanish La Liga. The club were founded on 14 April, 1931 and they have yet to win the Primera Division trophy. El Grana, though, booked their place in the Spanish Cup final in 1959, but Barcelona proved to be a big catch for the Andalusian outfit. Granada host their rivals at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes, the stadium that was built in 1995. The capacity of the stadium is 23,934. Granada’s main rivals are fellow Andalusian team Sevilla, but Real Betis are regarded as the club’s bitter rivals as well. The likes of Yacine Brahimi, Juan Aguero, Gustavo Benitez, Pahinho, Denis Milar, Julio Montero Castillo, Capi, Cesar and Jose Mingorance are famous players that were part of the Estadio El Sadar outfit in the past. The original colour of Granada’s kits were blue and white, but after the Spanish Civil War the club chiefs bought new ones (red and white).
