Our football match prediction:
All eyes will be on San Mames Barria when Athletic Club and Real Madrid face each other in the La Liga derby. The Lions did well to beat Real Sociedad in the Basque derby at the weekend and, no doubt, they are high on confidence ahead of Saturday’s football match against los Blancos. The good news for Athletic Bilbao fans is that key attacker Aritz Aduriz has overcome his injury and the former Valencia man is likely to lead the attack for the hosts against Real Madrid. Thanks to a hard-fought win over Real Betis Real Madrid regained top position in the La Liga standings, but the league leaders will have to be at their sharpest in the remainder of the season if they are to win the domestic trophy. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a beautiful header in the 2-1 win over los Beticos and, no doubt, the opposition defenders will have their work cut out for them when facing the Portuguese superstar. Both Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema should be recalled to the starting XI and that is the main reason why we predict that visitors will emerge triumphant in the San Mames Barria showdown.
Highlighted Player (Gorka Iraizoz):
Gorka Iraizoz is a goalkeeper who plays for La Liga side Athletic Bilbao. Iraizoz was born in Pamplona on 6 March, 1981 and he is 191 cm tall. The Athletic Bilbao shoot-stopper started his senior career at Basconia, playing 20 matches for the club between 1999 and 2000. He played for La Liga side Espanyol in the past as well, but on 7 August, 2007 he signed for Athletic Bilbao. Iraizoz made a right decision when he joined the Basque outfit as he participated in the 2011/2012 Europa League final. However, he did not win the trophy with the Lions as Atletico Madrid rolled over Athletic Bilbao in the title game. He made it to the Copa del Rey final on three occasions with Athletic Bilbao, but he failed to win the Spanish Cup trophy with the Basque team. Gorka Iraizoz made six appearances for the Basque Country, but he has yet to make his Spain debut.
Highlighted Team (Real Madrid):
Real Madrid are a Spanish football club based in Madrid. Real Madrid participate in La Liga (Primera Division) and they have won 32 domestic titles. On the other hand, los Blancos have won 11 European Cup titles and that is the main reason why they are considered the biggest football club in the world. Real Madrid play their home matches at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and the capacity of the stadium is 84,454. Cristiano Ronaldo is the club’s most successful footballer in the 21st century and the Portuguese superstar has won two Golden Ball awards. The likes of Alfredo Di Stefano, Zinedine Zidane, Raul Gonzalez Blanco, David Beckham and Iker Casillas are star players who were part of the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu outfit in the past. Real Madrid’s bitterest rivals are Barcelona, but the rivalry between local rivals Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid is big as well. Real Madrid’s home kit is white and, as a result, the team’s nickname is los Blancos (the Whites).
