Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Atletico Madrid have already dropped a lot of points in the new La Liga campaign, meaning that they face a must-win situation in Saturday’s football match against Las Palmas. Los Rojiblancos were impressive at their Estadio Vicente Calderon last season, but they failed to beat the likes of Alaves and Espanyol at home earlier this term. Diego Simeone’s men failed to score in previous two home fixtures and we predict that the hosts will leave their hearts on the field against los Amarillos. Las Palmas shared the spoils with the likes of Deportivo Alaves and Leganes in last two league games, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in Saturday’s clash against the star-studded capital club. Las Palmas are on a six-match winless run on the travels and they are unlikely to spoil Atletico’s party at Estadio Vicente Calderon. In previous two meetings between the two teams in La Liga los Rojiblancos emerged triumphant.
Highlighted Player (Antoine Griezmann):
Antoine Griezmann is a French forward born on 21st March 1991 in Macon, and he is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most exciting footballers at the moment. The pacey striker started showing his potential shortly after coming through Real Sociedad’s youth academy and he went on to score 46 goals in 179 league appearances for La Real. Excellent displays in Spanish la Liga saw him become a target for a number of top clubs, but he eventually choose to sign for Atletico Madrid, and that proved to be a very good decision. Griezmann continued the rich vein of form at Vicente Calderon, scoring some important goals as los Colchoneros enjoyed domestic and European success, while also becoming a key member of the France national team. Playing as a winger or second striker, Griezmann possesses impressive technical skills, he is a strong finisher and still finds time to work hard for his side, so no wonder he is widely regarded as one of the leading forwards on the continent. He won the Under-19 European Championship with France and is tipped to lead Les Bleus to glory on senior level as well.
Highlighted Team (Las Palmas):
Las Palmas are a Spanish football club based in the Canary Islands. The club was founded on 22 August, 1949. Los Amarillos play in Spanish La Liga and the team’s home ground is Estadio Gran Canaria. The stadium was opened in 2003 and it’s current capacity is 32,150. Miguel Angel Ramirez is the club’s chairman and the club’s main rivals are Tenerife. Las Palmas impressed in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign, with the team finishing the season in 11th place in the standings. However, it has to be noted that los Amarillos finished the 1968/1969 Primera Division campaign in second place in the table, 11 points behind Spanish giants Real Madrid. Speaking of Copa del Rey, Las Palmas made it to the final of the Spanish Cup in 1978. Las Palmas eliminated Sporting Gijon in the semis (5-3), but Barcelona outplayed los Amarillos in the title game (3-1).
