Our football match prediction:
After booking their place in the Europa League quarter-finals, Celta Vigo gave fans yet another reason for celebration as they defeated Deportivo La Coruna in the Galician derby. Os Celeste are high on confidence ahead of Monday’s football game against Las Palmas and a victory over los Amarillos would see them climb to the top half of the standings. It is well known that Eduardo Berizzo’s troops are a real force to be reckoned with at home and we predict that the hosts will extend their winning run in all competitions to three games. Las Palmas, on the other hand, struggle on the travels and it has to be noted that they are on a 12-game winless run on the road ahead of the trip to Galicia. Los Amarillos did well to beat Villarreal at home on Matchday 28, but seeing that their displays away from home leave a lot to be desired, the visitors are likely to return home empty-handed.
Highlighted Player (John Guidetti):
John Guidetti is one of Sweden’s most talented forwards and the man tipped to replace superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the national team. The highly rated footballer left Brommapojkarna soon after being promoted to the first team set-up, joining Premier League giants Manchester City. And while he never got a chance to shine at Etihad Stadium, Guidetti proved a great deal of potential during loan spells with Feyenoord and Celtic, and eventually earned a permanent contract with La Liga high flyers Celta Vigo. The talented striker has yet to nail down a regular starting berth at Balaidos, but he has been using the time spent on the pitch wisely, and continued his goalscoring form in Spain’s top flight. Playing alongside Nolito and Iago Aspas at club level as well as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Berg on international stage is bound to further aid the player’s development, and many believe he will go on to become one of Sweden’s best ever strikers. Guidetti has so far only made a handful of appearances for Blagult, but that is bound to change in years to come.
Highlighted Team (Las Palmas):
Las Palmas are a Spanish football club based in the Canary Islands. The club was founded on 22 August, 1949. Los Amarillos play in Spanish La Liga and the team’s home ground is Estadio Gran Canaria. The stadium was opened in 2003 and it’s current capacity is 32,150. Miguel Angel Ramirez is the club’s chairman and the club’s main rivals are Tenerife. Las Palmas impressed in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign, with the team finishing the season in 11th place in the standings. However, it has to be noted that los Amarillos finished the 1968/1969 Primera Division campaign in second place in the table, 11 points behind Spanish giants Real Madrid. Speaking of Copa del Rey, Las Palmas made it to the final of the Spanish Cup in 1978. Las Palmas eliminated Sporting Gijon in the semis (5-3), but Barcelona outplayed los Amarillos in the title game (3-1).
