Our football match prediction:
RCDE Stadium will host local derby between Espanyol and Girona. Espanyol made a flying start to the season, but despite producing a fine display against Sevilla at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Matchday 12, Rubi’s men eventually suffered a 2-1 loss to Pablo Machin’s troops. Los Periquitos have been impressive at home ground in the 2018/2019 La Liga season and seeing that Girona are not regarded as good travelers, we are tempted to put our money on Rubi’s charges. Girona scored only three goals in total in previous four league fixtures, which is yet another reason why away win should not be considered. In their last meeting in the Spanish elite division Espanyol recorded a 2-0 win over Girona and we predict that the history is going to repeat itself. A man to watch in the home team will be Borja Iglesias, who has netted seven goals in La Liga so far this term.

Highlighted Player (Hernan Perez):
Hernan Perez is a 27-year-old Paraguayan winger who plays for Spanish club RCD Espanyol in Spanish La Liga. Perez was a late bloomer having built up his career for two different youth clubs before finding his feet with Tacuary. He made his top division debut in 2007 with them and was subsequently signed by fellow league side Club Libertad. But a serious right knee injury limited his game time at Libertad where he rarely appeared for the capital club. Perez’s redemption came at Spanish club Villarreal in 2009 where he quickly established himself in the main squad. Last year, he joined Espanyol and started showing glimpses of his skills. Perez was one of the best players for Paraguayan under-20 team at the 2009 South American Championship helping them finish in second place. His full senior debut came in the next year when he was selected to the 2011 Copa America. So far, Perez has won 26 caps.

Highlighted Team (Girona):

After several unsuccessful attempts, Girona finally secured promotion to Primera Division at the end of the 2016/2017 season. The Catalan outfit finished the campaign in second place in the standings, 14 points behind Levante and only two clear of third-placed Getafe. Girona play their home games at Montilivi and the capacity of the venue is 9.286. Speaking of the club history, Girona were founded in the café Norat in La Rambla of Girona on July 23, 1930 and they played their first official game against Colonia Artigas. A number of Spanish coaches were in charge of the team in the past, but it has to be noted that Uruguayan tactician Dagoberto Moll (1965/1966) and Karoly Plattko (1948/1949) of Hungary were in charge of the club as well. The Catalan team wear white shirts with red stripes when playing at home, while the colour of their shorts is blue. The team’s away kits are blue and black and Sporting Gijon are considered one of Girona’s fiercest rivals.
