Our football match prediction:
Malaga produced a brilliant performance in a 1-1 draw with Villarreal, but they failed to pick up all thre points from the Camp El Madrigal clash due to mistakes by the referee. Anyhow, los Boquerones regained a much-needed confidence and they will be looking to move a little closer to the top half of the table with a win over Las Palmas at their Estadio La Rosaleda. The Andalusian outfit are on a nine-match winless run in the Spanish top flight and they are after their first win in the league since November, 26. Los Amarillos, on the other hand, aim to make amends for a 1-0 loss to Sevilla and seeing that both teams are likely to adopt an attack-minded approach in Monday’s football game, we predict that fans will see goals galore at Estadio La Rosaleda. In their last meeting in Andalusia Malaga recorded a thrilling 4-1 win over Las Palmas and we believe that the hosts will put an end to their nine-game winless run in the Spanish elite division.
Highligted Player (Roque Santa Cruz):
Roque Santa Cruz is one of the tallest strikers for Paraguay over the years. The 34-year-old striker has last appeared for the Spanish club Malaga on loan from Mexican club Cruz Azul. The lanky striker started his career in the youth teams of Olimpia and made his first-team debut at the age of 15 in 1997. His prolific scoring record with Olimpia earned him a transfer to German giants Bayern Munich in 1999 for a fee of €5 million. The initial promise didn’t convert to reality because of a series of injuries and heavy competition from team mates. His limited impact and appearances restricted his prolific scoring although he won numerous Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal titles with Bayern. Santa Cruz joined Manchester City in 2009 but injuries limited his performances. He is currently the all-time leading goal scorer for Paraguay with 32 goals and also the sixth ever player to reach 100 appearances.
Highlighted Team (Las Palmas):
Las Palmas are a Spanish football club based in the Canary Islands. The club was founded on 22 August, 1949. Los Amarillos play in Spanish La Liga and the team’s home ground is Estadio Gran Canaria. The stadium was opened in 2003 and it’s current capacity is 32,150. Miguel Angel Ramirez is the club’s chairman and the club’s main rivals are Tenerife. Las Palmas impressed in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign, with the team finishing the season in 11th place in the standings. However, it has to be noted that los Amarillos finished the 1968/1969 Primera Division campaign in second place in the table, 11 points behind Spanish giants Real Madrid. Speaking of Copa del Rey, Las Palmas made it to the final of the Spanish Cup in 1978. Las Palmas eliminated Sporting Gijon in the semis (5-3), but Barcelona outplayed los Amarillos in the title game (3-1).
