Our football match prediction:
Following an underwhelming season, Real Betis have turned a new page and their opening results in the new 2016-17 season offer great reassurance to the supporters. La Liga campaign was kicked off by a compelling 6-2 defeat at the hands of Barcelona at the Camp Nou, but Gus Poyet’s men have since then made significant progress in the domestic championship. Os Beticos have first been forced to settle for a goalless draw against Deportivo La Coruna, but the highlight of the season so far definitely is their hard-fought 3-2 win at Valencia at the weekend. It was thanks to Ruben Castro’s stoppage-time winner that Real Betis managed to clinch their first La Liga win of the season and there is no doubt that this victory will be a huge morale boost ahead of Granada’s visit. Unlike their next rivals, Granada are still winless in the new season and we predict there is great chance thing will remain that way at the Estadio Benito Villamarin in Sevilla. The opening 1-1 draw against Villarreal was followed by back-to-back defeats to Las Palmas and Eibar, leaving Paco Jimenez’s men with just one point after three rounds.
Highlighted Player (Vargas):
Juan Manuel Vargas is an experienced 32-year-old left back who can also play as a winger. He currently plays for the Spanish club Real Betis. Vargas is well-known for his dribbles, free-kicks and accurate crosses. He started his career with Universitario where he quickly became a first-team regular by 2004. His first stint in Italy was with Serie A club Catania in 2006. Vargas was one of their best players and was always a first team regular at Catania. His impressive performances helped them retain their Serie A survival for two seasons. With many clubs vying for his signature, Vargas joined Fiorentina in 2008 for a reported transfer fee of €12 million – reportedly rebuffing Real Madrid. Though he struggled initially, Vargas settled in an advanced attacking role after becoming a crucial part of the Viola squad. His international career began in 2004 and has represented his country in 62 matches so far.
Highlighted Team (Granada):
Granada are an Andalusian football club that plays in Spanish La Liga. The club were founded on 14 April, 1931 and they have yet to win the Primera Division trophy. El Grana, though, booked their place in the Spanish Cup final in 1959, but Barcelona proved to be a big catch for the Andalusian outfit. Granada host their rivals at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes, the stadium that was built in 1995. The capacity of the stadium is 23,934. Granada’s main rivals are fellow Andalusian team Sevilla, but Real Betis are regarded as the club’s bitter rivals as well. The likes of Yacine Brahimi, Juan Aguero, Gustavo Benitez, Pahinho, Denis Milar, Julio Montero Castillo, Capi, Cesar and Jose Mingorance are famous players that were part of the Estadio El Sadar outfit in the past. The original colour of Granada’s kits were blue and white, but after the Spanish Civil War the club chiefs bought new ones (red and white).
