Our football match prediction:
Real Betis did suffer a 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid at Estadio Vicente Calderon at the weekend, but the team’s performance was anything but poor. Los Beticos missed a couple of clear-cut chances to score against Diego Simeone’s troops and they will be looking to build on the display when they host Sporting Gijon at their Estadio Benito Villamarin on Matchday 18. A win over Gijon would see the hosts escape the danger zone and we predict that the hosts will leave their hearts on the field in Sunday’s football game. Los Rojiblancos, on the other hand, extended their losing run to four games in La Liga, with the team suffering a 3-2 defeat to Eibar in front of home fans in their last league match. The visitors are low on confidence ahead of the trip to Andalusia and they are unlikely to give fans some cheer on Sunday evening.
Highligted Player (Felipe Gutierrez):
Felipe Gutierrez is a Spanish footballer who plays as a central midfielder for La Liga side Real Betis. The Chilean international is capable of playing as both attacking and left midfielder as well and he started his senior career at Universidad Catolica. He scored 19 goals in 65 appearances for los Cruzados, but in 2012 he decided to move to Europe. Gutierrez signed a deal with Eredivisie side Twente in June 2012 for a fee of $4 million. After making 94 league appearances for Twente he joined La Liga team Real Betis on 6 July, 2016. Felipe Gutierrez won Copa America with Chile in 2015 as La Roja defeated star-studded Argentina in the title game. Speaking of his club honours, Gutierrez won the 2010 Primera Division de Chile trophy with Universidad Catolica. It has to be noted that he was named Most Valuable Player of the Eredivisie for the 2013/2014 campaign. Felipe Gutierrez earned his 27th cap for Chile in a 4-1 win over Venezuela in the World Cup qualifiers in March 2016.
Highlighted Team (Sporting Gijon):
Sporting Gijon are a Spanish football club that competes in La Liga. Sporting Gijon’s home ground is El Molinon, the stadium that was built in 1908. El Molinon is the oldest football field in Spain and the capacity of the stadium is 30,000. Sporting Gijon’s home kit is red and white and the club’s main rivals are Real Oviedo. The two teams take on each other in the Asturian derby. Sporting Gijon did remarkably well to finish the 1978/1979 La Liga campaign in second position in the standings and that is considered the club’s biggest success. Los Rojiblancos were runners-up in Spanish Copa del Rey in 1981 and 1982, but they have yet to win the Spanish Cup. The club was founded in 1905 and the club’s original name was Sporting Gijones. Sporting Gijon participated in the UEFA Cup on six occasions, but they did not record a good result in the European competition.
