Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Against all odds, Real Madrid suffered an embarrassing 2-1 loss to Girona on Matchday 11 and it has to be noted that they failed to create a clear-cut chance to score in the second half of the match. Los Blancos made a slow start to the season and seeing that they are eight points behind league leaders Barcelona in the La Liga standings, this has to go down as a must-win game for Zinedine Zidane’s troops. Las Palmas have been struggling in the first half of the 2017/2018 La Liga campaign as well and given their poor away record, we predict that los Amarillos are going to return home empty-handed. Pako Ayestaran’s men struggle in matches against top-table sides and they are unlikely to spoil Real Madrid’s party at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu this weekend. In their last meeting in Madrid the two teams played out a thrilling 3-3 draw, but given the importance of Sunday’s football game for the hosts, we are tempted to put our money on CR7 and Co. this time out.
Highlighted Player (Cristiano Ronaldo):
Cristiano Ronaldo is considered one of the world’s best football players. The Portuguese ace was born on 5 February, 1985 in Funchal, Madeira and he played for the likes of Andorinha, Nacional and Sporting during his youth career. CR7 made his Sporting debut in Primeira Liga on 7 October, 2002, scoring two goals in a 3-0 win over Moreirense.
Manchester United scouts spotted him and one year later he joined the Old Trafford outfit. Ronaldo became the most expensive teenager in the history of the Premier League and he received the number 7 shirt. He quickly established himself as the team’s key player and it has to be noted that he won three consecutive Premier League trophies with the Red Devils (2006/2007, 2007/2008, 2008/2009). In 2008 he helped the Old Trafford outfit beat Chelsea in the Champions League final, scoring for Alex Ferguson’s troops in the regular time.
Ronaldo joined Real Madrid in 2009 and he helped the Spanish giants with two Champions League trophies. In 2016 he won the European Championship trophy with Portugal. The Real Madrid ace has two Golden Ball awards (2013, 2014).
Highlighted Team (Las Palmas):
Las Palmas are a Spanish football club based in the Canary Islands. The club was founded on 22 August, 1949. Los Amarillos play in Spanish La Liga and the team’s home ground is Estadio Gran Canaria. The stadium was opened in 2003 and it’s current capacity is 32,150. Miguel Angel Ramirez is the club’s chairman and the club’s main rivals are Tenerife. Las Palmas impressed in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign, with the team finishing the season in 11th place in the standings. However, it has to be noted that los Amarillos finished the 1968/1969 Primera Division campaign in second place in the table, 11 points behind Spanish giants Real Madrid. Speaking of Copa del Rey, Las Palmas made it to the final of the Spanish Cup in 1978. Las Palmas eliminated Sporting Gijon in the semis (5-3), but Barcelona outplayed los Amarillos in the title game (3-1).
