Our football match prediction:
Thanks to Antoine Griezmann’s late goal Atletico Madrid recorded a hard-fought 2-1 win over Rostov in Saturday’s Champions League game, but it has to be noted that los Rojiblancos had no less than 33 goal attempts during the match. Diego Simeone’s men defeated Malaga (4-2) at their Estadio Vicente Calderon at the weekend, but they were beaten by Sevilla in their last away game in La Liga. The capital club aim to stay in the race for the title and we predict that Diego Simeone will field the best possible side against Real Sociedad. The Basques recorded back-to-back wins over the likes of Deportivo Alaves and Leganes in previous two league fixtures, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in Saturday’s football match against star-studded Atletico Madrid. In previous three meetings between the two teams los Rojiblancos emerged triumphant and we are tempted to put our money on the visitors this time out.
Highlighted Player (Xabi Prieto):
Xabi Prieto was born in San Sebastian and he plays for his home-town club Real Sociedad. He is a product of Real Sociedad’s youth school and there is every chance he will end his career at Anoeta. Xabi Prieto was born on 29 August, 1983 and he made his La Liga debut for La Real on 26 October, 2003 in a 1-0 win over Osasuna. He played probably the best match of his career against Real Madrid on 23 May, 2004 as he scored a brace for the Basques in a 4-1 win over los Blancos. Prieto impressed in the 2012/2013 La Liga campaign as he scored nine goals for Real Sociedad in 35 league appearances for the club. He has five caps for Spain U21 team, but he has yet to make his debut for the first team. Xabi Prieto plays as a midfielder and he wears number 10 on his shirt. It is well known that Xabi is a penalty kick specialist.
Highlighted Team (Atletico Madrid):
Atletico Madrid are a Spanish team that plays in Primera Division (La Liga). Los Rojiblancos or los Colchoneros play their home matches at Estadio Vicente Calderon, which holds up to 54,960 spectators. Atletico Madrid have won 10 La Liga titles, but they have yet to lift the European Cup (Champions League) trophy. Los Rojblancos have won 10 Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) trophies and it has to be noted that they defeated their bitter local rivals Real Madrid in the 2012/2013 Spanish Cup final. The rivalry between the two capital clubs is pretty big and El Madrileno is regarded as one of the most exciting derbies in the world football. Atletico Madrid played two Champions League finals under Diego Simeone, but they failed to beat Real Madrid in the title games (2013/2014 and 2015/2016). However, the Argentine tactician helped Atletico Madrid win the La Liga trophy in 2014 and, no doubt, he is one of the most successful coaches in the history of the capital club.
