Our football match prediction:
Following a thrilling 4-4 draw with Real Betis, Real Sociedad recorded a 2-0 win over Deportivo Alaves in their last league match. La Real managed to put an end to their four-game winless run in La Liga and a victory over Espanyol should see them climb to the Europa League berth in the standings. It is well known that Real Sociedad are a real force to be reckoned with at home and considering that Espanyol’s displays on the road leave a lot to be desired, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the Basque outfit. The Catalan side failed to impress in a goalless draw with Levante in their last league match and we do not believe that they are capable of upsetting La Real at “Anoeta”. You should bear in mind that los Periquitos failed to score in previous three away games in the national championship.
Highlighted Player (Xabi Prieto):
Xabi Prieto was born in San Sebastian and he plays for his home-town club Real Sociedad. He is a product of Real Sociedad’s youth school and there is every chance he will end his career at Anoeta. Xabi Prieto was born on 29 August, 1983 and he made his La Liga debut for La Real on 26 October, 2003 in a 1-0 win over Osasuna. He played probably the best match of his career against Real Madrid on 23 May, 2004 as he scored a brace for the Basques in a 4-1 win over los Blancos. Prieto impressed in the 2012/2013 La Liga campaign as he scored nine goals for Real Sociedad in 35 league appearances for the club. He has five caps for Spain U21 team, but he has yet to make his debut for the first team. Xabi Prieto plays as a midfielder and he wears number 10 on his shirt. It is well known that Xabi is a penalty kick specialist.
Highlighted Team (Espanyol):
Espanyol are a Catalan club that plays in Spanish La Liga. Espanyol were founded in 1900 and their original name was Sociedad Espanola de Football. In 1901 the Catalan club changed its name to Club Espanol de Futbol. Los Periquitos used to play in bright yellow shirts in the past, but current colour of the team’s home kit is blue and white. Espanyol’s fiercest rivals are Barcelona and the two teams face each other in the Catalan derby (Derbi barceloni). Espanyol have always been in Barca’s shadow, but it has to be noted that los Periquitos have won four Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup trophies). The likes of Raul Tamudo, Jose Maria, Antonio Argiles and Mauricio Pochettino are players with most appearances for the Catalan outfit. Espanyol play their home games at Estadio Cornella-El Prat and the capacity of the stadium is 40,500. Los Periquitos have never participated in the Champions League.
