Our football match prediction:
Real Sociedad will be aiming to make amends for back-to-back losses to the likes of Athletic Bilbao and Deportivo Alaves when they welcome Leganes at their Estadio Municipal de Anoeta. La Real failed to score in previous two league fixtures and they are desperate to put an end to the negative trend. The Basques are regarded as favourites on paper to win Saturday’s football match, but it has to be noted that the likes of Esteban Granero and Carlos Vela are both sidelined through suspension. As a result, we predict that fans will see a low-scoring affair at Anoeta. Leganes, on the other hand, are on a three-game unbeaten run in the Spanish elite division and you should bear in mind that under 2.5 goals were scored in each of their last four league fixtures. Taking everything into account, one goal should separate the two teams on Matchday 29.
Highlighted Player (Illarramendi):
Asier Illarramendi is a product of Real Sociedad’s youth school. He played for Real Sociedad B between 2008 and 2011, scoring 7 goals in 93 appearances for the Basque outfit and he made his first team debut on 23 January, 2011 in a 2-1 defeat to Villarreal. After impressing with Real Sociedad in the 2012/2013 Primera Division campaign, Real Madrid chiefs decided to sign him on 12 July, 2013 for a fee of €32.2 million. Back then that was the highest amount paid by the club for a Spanish footballer, but he failed to impress at Real Madrid. After spending two seasons at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Asier Illarramendi returns to Real Sociedad on 26 August, 2015 and he has been playing for the Anoeta outfit ever since. Asier Illarramendi scored one goal in 33 appearances for La Real in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign. The talented midfielder has 16 caps for Spain U21 and it has to be noted that he represented La Furia Roja at the 2013 UEFA European Championship.
Highlighted Team (Leganes):
Leganes are a Spanish football club that have mostly been playing in lower leagues. Los Pepineros play their home games at Batarque (Madrid) and the capacity of the stadium is just 8,138. Leganes secured their promotion to the Spanish La Liga for the first time ever in 2016 and, no doubt, that is considered the club’s biggest success. Leganes’ bitterest rivals are fellow capital club Getafe and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other in the South Madrid derby. The colour of the team’s home kit is white and blue, whilst their away kits are green. The likes of Pierre Webo, Samuel Eto’o, Ivan Zarandona, Jose Chamot, Catanha, Ruben Falcon, Jordi Lardin and Pedro Lago are famous players who were part of the Batarque outfit in the past. Lady Maria Victoria Pavon is the first female president in the history of the club and she has been in charge of the club since 2009.
