Our football match prediction:
Thanks to a 1-1 draw with Zurich Villarreal moved one step closer to booking their place in the Europa League knockout stages. The Yellow Submarine have been producing fine displays in all competitions this season and they are sitting in fourth place in the La Liga standings ahead of the visit of Deportivo Alaves. Fran Escriba’s men suffered a 1-0 loss to Athletic Bilbao in their last league match, but they are certainly capable of picking up all three points from Sunday’s football game against the newcomers. Alaves made a promising start to the season, but it has to be noted that they suffered three defeats in previous four league matches. It is well known that over the years Villarreal have turned their Camp el Madrigal into a real fortress and considering that coach Fran Escriba has almost a full squad to choose from for the Alaves game, we predict that the hosts will start a new winning run in La Liga.
Highligted Player (Cedric Bakambu):
Cedric Bakambu is considered one of the best African strikers. He was a French youth international and he played for les Tricolores at the 2010 UEFA U19 European Championship. France defeated Spain in the final of the tournament and that is regarded as Bakambu’s biggest success, speaking of his international career. However, despite playing for France youth teams, Cedric Bakambu decided to represent DR Congo at senior level and he made his debut for the Congolese national team against Cameroon. He scored his first goal for DR Congo in a 2-1 win over Angola on 26 March, 2016. Speaking of his club career, the pacey attacker played for Sochaux from 2010 to 2014 and on 1 September, 2014 he moved to Bursaspor. After scoring 13 goals in 27 league appearances for the Turkish outfit, Bakambu signed a five-year deal with La Liga side Villarreal on 19 August, 2015 and he has been playing for the Yellow Submarine ever since. The Congolese striker made his Villarreal debut on 23 August, 21015 in a 1-1 draw with Real Betis.
Highlighted Team (Alaves):
Alaves are a Spanish football club located in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Alava. The club were founded in 1921 and they play their home games at Estadio Mendizorrotza. The capacity of the stadium is 19,840 and it has to be noted that it is the third oldest stadium in Spanish football. After spending several years in the Spanish Segunda Division, los Babazorros returned to the top flight in 2016. The colour of Alaves’ home kit is blue and white and the club’s local rivals are fellow Basque sides Real Sociedad, Athletic Club, Osasuna and Eibar. Alaves made it to the UEFA CUP final in 2001, but they were beaten by Liverpool 5-4 in a thrilling football clash. Anyhow, that is still regarded as the club’s biggest success. Los Babazorros booked their place in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals on four occasions and they have yet to win the Primera Division trophy.
