Our football match prediction:
Monday’s football game at Camp el Madrigal pits together Villarreal and Atletico Madrid. The Yellow Submarine did well to book their place in the Europa League knockout stages in midweek and they are now on a quest to start a new winning run in La Liga. Quique Setien’s team failed to score in previous three league fixtures, but they created a number of clear-cut chances to score in the 2-1 win over Steaua on Thursday evening. Villarreal are eyeing their sixth home win of the season, but they would be happy with one point from Monday’s showdown as well. Atletico Madrid are nine points behind league leaders and their local rivals Real Madrid in the La Liga standings, meaning that this has to go down as a must-win game for los Rojiblancos. However, seeing that the Yellow Submarine are tough to beat at home, we predict that the two teams will share the spoils on Matchday 15.
Highlighted Player (Cedric Bakambu):
Cedric Bakambu is considered one of the best African strikers. He was a French youth international and he played for les Tricolores at the 2010 UEFA U19 European Championship. France defeated Spain in the final of the tournament and that is regarded as Bakambu’s biggest success, speaking of his international career. However, despite playing for France youth teams, Cedric Bakambu decided to represent DR Congo at senior level and he made his debut for the Congolese national team against Cameroon. He scored his first goal for DR Congo in a 2-1 win over Angola on 26 March, 2016. Speaking of his club career, the pacey attacker played for Sochaux from 2010 to 2014 and on 1 September, 2014 he moved to Bursaspor. After scoring 13 goals in 27 league appearances for the Turkish outfit, Bakambu signed a five-year deal with La Liga side Villarreal on 19 August, 2015 and he has been playing for the Yellow Submarine ever since. The Congolese striker made his Villarreal debut on 23 August, 21015 in a 1-1 draw with Real Betis.
Highlighted Team (Atletico Madrid):
Atletico Madrid are a Spanish team that plays in Primera Division (La Liga). Los Rojiblancos or los Colchoneros play their home matches at Estadio Vicente Calderon, which holds up to 54,960 spectators. Atletico Madrid have won 10 La Liga titles, but they have yet to lift the European Cup (Champions League) trophy. Los Rojblancos have won 10 Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) trophies and it has to be noted that they defeated their bitter local rivals Real Madrid in the 2012/2013 Spanish Cup final. The rivalry between the two capital clubs is pretty big and El Madrileno is regarded as one of the most exciting derbies in the world football. Atletico Madrid played two Champions League finals under Diego Simeone, but they failed to beat Real Madrid in the title games (2013/2014 and 2015/2016). However, the Argentine tactician helped Atletico Madrid win the La Liga trophy in 2014 and, no doubt, he is one of the most successful coaches in the history of the capital club.
