Our football match prediction:
Estadio de la Ceramica will host Sunday’s football game between Villarreal and Las Palmas. The Yellow Submarine made a slow start to the season, but they have been in a fine form in the Spanish top flight of late. New coach Javi Calleja is doing a good job with Villarreal and his men head into the clash against Las Palmas following back-to-back wins over the likes of Eibar and Girona. Cedric Bakambu scored a brace in the 2-1 victory over Girona at the weekend, meaning that Las Palmas defenders should have him at bay. Pako Ayestaran’s men have yet to find their best form in the national championship and seeing that los Amarillos often struggle on the road, we are tempted to put our money on Javi Calleja’s charges. In their last meeting at Estadio de la Ceramica Villarreal recorded a 2-1 win over Las Palmas and, taking everything into account, home win should be considered.
Highligted Player (Cedric Bakambu):
Cedric Bakambu is considered one of the best African strikers. He was a French youth international and he played for les Tricolores at the 2010 UEFA U19 European Championship. France defeated Spain in the final of the tournament and that is regarded as Bakambu’s biggest success, speaking of his international career. However, despite playing for France youth teams, Cedric Bakambu decided to represent DR Congo at senior level and he made his debut for the Congolese national team against Cameroon. He scored his first goal for DR Congo in a 2-1 win over Angola on 26 March, 2016. Speaking of his club career, the pacey attacker played for Sochaux from 2010 to 2014 and on 1 September, 2014 he moved to Bursaspor. After scoring 13 goals in 27 league appearances for the Turkish outfit, Bakambu signed a five-year deal with La Liga side Villarreal on 19 August, 2015 and he has been playing for the Yellow Submarine ever since. The Congolese striker made his Villarreal debut on 23 August, 21015 in a 1-1 draw with Real Betis.
Highlighted Team (Las Palmas):
Las Palmas are a Spanish football club based in the Canary Islands. The club was founded on 22 August, 1949. Los Amarillos play in Spanish La Liga and the team’s home ground is Estadio Gran Canaria. The stadium was opened in 2003 and it’s current capacity is 32,150. Miguel Angel Ramirez is the club’s chairman and the club’s main rivals are Tenerife. Las Palmas impressed in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign, with the team finishing the season in 11th place in the standings. However, it has to be noted that los Amarillos finished the 1968/1969 Primera Division campaign in second place in the table, 11 points behind Spanish giants Real Madrid. Speaking of Copa del Rey, Las Palmas made it to the final of the Spanish Cup in 1978. Las Palmas eliminated Sporting Gijon in the semis (5-3), but Barcelona outplayed los Amarillos in the title game (3-1).
