Our match prediction:
After hammering Sparta Prague in the Europa League quarter-finals Villarreal will be looking to strengthen their grip on fourth place in the La Liga standings with a win over Rayo Vallecano in the suburbs of Madrid. The Yellow Submarine recorded a routine win over Getafe in their last league game, but Sunday’s match at Estadio del Rayo Vallecano will be anything but a walk in the park for Marcelino’s troops. Rayo’s top flight status is in great danger as they are just three points clear of the relegation zone and given that Paco Jemez’s men are tough to beat at home, we predict that the relegation-threatened team will grab something from the match. Villarreal would be happy with one point from Sunday’s football game and, taking everything into account, a share of spoils appears on the horizon. When the two teams met at Camp el Madrigal in the reverse fixture Cedric Bakambu scored a late winner for the Yellow Submarine (2-1).
