Our prediction for this Russia Premier League match:
All eyes will be on RZD Arena when Lokomotiv Moscow and Zenit face each other in the Russian Premier League derby. Lokomotiv Moscow will represent Russia in the Champions League this season, but they have been struggling in the national championship of late. The capital club sit in the seventh place in the standings, with the team collecting only one point in total from the last three league fixtures.
Lokomotiv Moscow face an uphill task in Sunday’s football match, and given their defensive performance in a 3-2 loss to Akhmat Grozny, home win should not be considered. The Zenitchiki, on the other hand, aim to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Dynamo Moscow. Even though Argentina international Sebastian Driussi is likely to miss the match with injury, we are tempted to put our money on the visitors, who should take advantage of Lokomotiv’s current form.
Highlighted Player (Eder):
Eder is a Portuguese footballer who helped A Seleccao win their first ever major title as he scored a late goal against France in the 2016 European Championship final. Eder was born on December 22, 1987 in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, but he eventually decided to represent Portugal on the international stage and, no doubt, that proved to be the best decision of his life.
Speaking of his club career, the 190-cm-tall attacker played for the youth team of ADC Ademia from 1999 to 2006 and in 2006 he moved to Oliveira Hospital. He player for the likes of Tourizense, Academica and Braga in Portugal as well before joining Swansea City in the summer of 2015.
Eder made his Premier League debut on August 8, 2015 in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea, but it has to be noted that he failed to find the net for the Swans in the English top flight. After failing to impress at Swansea City, Eder joined Lille on loan in the 2016 January transfer window and four months later he signed a permanent deal with les Dogues.
Highlighted Team (Zenit):
Zenit Saint Petersburg are a Russian football club that was founded by workers of Leningrad Metal Plant in 1925. Over the years the Zenitchiki have established themselves as one of the dominant forces in Russian football, but they won their first domestic trophy in 1984.
Zenit have been impressive in the national championship in the 21st century, winning four league titles, while clinching two Russian Cups (2010, 2016). The Zenitchiki are a regular participant of the Champions League group stages and in 2008 they did well to win the UEFA Cup. The Russian outfit defeated Glasgow Rangers (2-0) in the title game, with Denisov and Zyryanov both finding the net in the final of the competition.
Zenit play their home games at Krestovsky Stadium, the venue that was opened in 2016. Gazprom are the club’s main sponsors and the colour of their home shirts is white-sky blue. Brazilian ace Hulk is probably the most notable footballer who played for Zenit.
