Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Following three consecutive wins, Cagliari shared the spoils with the likes of Hellas Verona and Roma in previous two league fixtures. The Sardinians made a promising start to the season, but head coach Rolando Maran must warn his men against complacency as SPAL proved their worth in a hard-fought 1-0 win over Parma. The visitors, though, will be without suspended midfielder Espeto in Sunday’s football match and that is one of the main reasons why we are tempted to put our money on the hosts.
The Biancazzurri are not regarded as good travelers and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Cagliari’s party at Sardegna Arena. In their last meeting in Sardinia Cagliari recorded a 2-1 win over SPAL and you should bear in mind that the Biancazzurri have never defeated the Rossoblu on the road in the Italian elite division.

Highlighted Player (Valter Birsa):

After making just one appearance for Primorje in the 2003/2004 campaign, Valter Birsa joined Gorica at the age of 17. He impressed with the Slovenian outfit, scoring 26 goals in 61 league matches and, as a result, earned a lucrative move to Sochaux.
The left-footed midfielder, who plays as a winger as well, did not score too many goals for the French outfit (8), but it has to be noted that he was sent on loan to Auxerre (in 2009) before his contract expired. Despite being on Liverpool’s radar, Birsa joined Genoa on 2 February 2011 and he made nine league appearances for the Rossoblu in the 2011/2012 Serie A campaign.
After ending his loan spell with Torino in 2013 he joined Italian giants Milan, in what was a swap deal for Luca Antonini, who moved to Genoa. Valter Birsa has 12 caps for Slovenia U21 and he represented the Slovenian national team at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He scored his first goal for Slovenia on 9 September, 2009 against Poland.
Highlighted Team (SPAL):

The Biancazzurri returned to the Italian elite division following a 49-year absence and it has to be noted that they finished the 2016/2017 Serie A campaign in 14th place in the table. As a result, they were relegated to the Italian second tier at the end of the season.
The club was founded in 1907 as Circolo Ars et Labor and six years later was renamed as Societa Polisportiva Ars et Labor. After a bankruptcy the club was re-founded in 2005 and they have been competing as SPAl 1907 ever since.
SPAL welcome their rivals at Stadio Paolo Mazza, the venue which was opened in 1928. You should know that the capacity of the stadium is 12.438 Rovigo are regarded as Spal’s fiercest rivals and the two teams face each other in the Derby of Polesine.
