Our football match prediction:
Chievo could not have wished for a better start to the season. The Mussi Volanti kicked off the new Serie A campaign with a 2-1 win at Udinese and they are certainly high on confidence ahead of Sunday’s football match against Lazio. Chievo aim to give fans yet another reason for celebration and you should bear in mind that they defeated the Biancocelesti in their last meeting in the Italian top flight. Lazio failed to turn their dominance into goals in a goalless draw with newcomers Spal at the weekend and despite the fact that coach Simone Inzaghi has a number of top-class footballers to choose from, we predict that the hosts will emerge triumphant in Sunday’s clash in the “City of Love”. Felipe Caicedo came as a substitute in the 0-0 draw with Spal, but the former Espanyol attacker should start for the capital club against Chievo.
Highlighted Player (Nicola Rigoni):
Nicola Rigoni is a professional football player who was born in Schio, Italy on 12 November, 1990. Rigoni is a product of Vicenza’s youth school and he played 31 league games for the Biancorossi at senior level. In 2010 he decided to move to Palermo, but he made no more than four league appearances for the Sicilian outfit in the 2010/2011 season. The Italian midfielder returned to Vicenza in 2011, but he once again left the club (2012). Rigoni signed a contract with Chievo on 5 September, 2012, but he was immediately sent on loan to his former club Vicenza. After ending his loan spells with the likes of Reggina and Cittadella, he returned to Chievo for the 2015/2016 season. He made 28 league appearances for the Mussi Volanti, scoring three goals in the process. Nicola Rigoni has a contract with Chievo which expires on 30 June, 2018. His main position is defensive midfield, but he is capable of producing fine displays further up the pitch as well.
Highlighted Team (Lazio Roma):
Lazio are an Italian football club based in Rome. Lazio were founded in 1900 and they compete in the Serie A. The Biancocelesti (The White and Sky Blues) have won two Serie A trophies (1973/1974, 1999/2000), while lifting six Coppa Italia titles. The capital club play their home games at Stadio Olimpico and Roma are regarded as Lazio’s main rivals. The two teams face each other in the Derby della Capitale and it is considered the fiercest inter-city derby in Italy. Lazio won UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1999, with the team beating Mallorca in the title game. The same year they managed to clinch the UEFA Super Cup trophy as they outplayed English giants Manchester United at Stade Louis II, Monaco. The likes of Pavel Nedved, Giuseppe Favalli, Juan Sebastian Veron, Sinisa Mihajlovic, Roberto Mancini, Giuseppe Signori, Miroslav Klose and Simone Inzaghi are notable footballers who played for Lazio in the past.
