Our match prediction:
Chievo were on the verge of suffering a loss to Udinese at “Friuli” at the weekend, but they eventually came from behind and defeated the Zebrette in Udine. The Mussi Volanti proved their worth in the 2-1 win over Udinese and they will be looking to build on the triumph when they host Sassuolo at their Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi. Chievo outplayed Inter in their first home game of the season, while sharing the spoils with Lazio in front of home fans and it is no surprise they are considered favourites on paper to beat Sassuolo in Wednesday’s football match. The Neroverdi did remarkably well to beat Athletic Bilbao (3-0) in their Europa League opener and they head into the game following a 2-0 victory over Genoa. However, it is well known that Sassuolo struggle on the travels and that is the main reason why we predict that visitors are going to return home empty-handed.
Highligted Player (Valter Birsa):
After making just one appearance for Primorje in the 2003/2004 campaign, Valter Birsa joined Gorica at the age of 17. He impressed with the Slovenian outfit, scoring 26 goals in 61 league matches and, as a result, earned a lucrative move to Sochaux. The left-footed midfielder, who plays as a winger as well, did not score too many goals for the French outfit (8), but it has to be noted that he was sent on loan to Auxerre (in 2009) before his contract expired. Despite being on Liverpool’s radar, Birsa joined Genoa on 2 February 2011 and he made nine league appearances for the Rossoblu in the 2011/2012 Serie A campaign. After ending his loan spell with Torino in 2013 he joined Italian giants Milan, in what was a swap deal for Luca Antonini, who moved to Genoa. Valter Birsa has 12 caps for Slovenia U21 and he represented the Slovenian national team at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He scored his first goal for Slovenia on 9 September, 2009 against Poland.
