Our football match prediction:
Sunday’s football game at Stadio Ezio Scida pits together Crotone and Roma, the two teams with entirely different ambitions in the 2016/2017 season. The newcomers aim to avoid relegation to Serie B, while the Romans are desperate to win their first league trophy since 2001. The capital club are a real force to be reckoned with at home and, on the other hand, the Giallorossi are eyeing their sixth away win in the national championship. Roma have defeated the likes of Udinese, Genoa, Lazio, Sassuolo and Napoli on the road and we predict that the title-chasing team will emerge triumphant in Sunday’s clash against the relegation-threatened side. Mohamed Salah returns from Africa Cup of Nations and the Egypt international is likely to prove a handful for the opposition defenders. When the two teams met in the “Eternal City” in the reverse fixture Roma recorded a routine (4-0) win over Crotone.
Highlighted Player (Alex Cordaz):
Alex Cordaz is an Italian goalkeeper who plays for Crotone, who returned to the Serie A at the end of the 2015/2016 season. Cordaz was born in Vittorio Veneto on 1 January 1983 and he started his youth career at Inter. He played one game for the Nerazzurri in the Serie A and in 2006 he joined Treviso. After making 18 league appearances for the club from 2006 to 2009, he joined with Swiss side Lugano on a free transfer. The 188-cm-tall goalkeeper played 56 league games for Lugano and in 2011 he returned to Italy as he signed a contract with Cittadella. As expected, he established himself as a first-choice goalkeeper and he made no less than 80 league appearances for the club between 2011 and 2013. Alex Cordaz currently plays for Crotone and it has to be noted that he made 42 appearances for the club in the 2015/2016 Serie B campaign.
Highlighted Team (AS Roma):
AS Roma are a professional football club based in Rome. Roma were founded by a merger in 1927 and they play in the Italian Serie A. Roma’s fiercest rivals are Lazio and it has to be noted that both capital clubs play their home games at Stadio Olimpico. The two local rivals face each other in the Derby della Capitale, which is considered one of the most exciting derbies in the world of football. The Giallorossi (The Yellow and Reds) have won three Serie A titles (1941/1942, 1982/1983, 2000/2001), while winning nine Coppa Italia trophies. The colour of Roma’s shirts is imperial purple with a golden yellow trim. A number of top-class footballers were part of Roma in the past, but Francesco Totti is undisputedly the club’s biggest legend. “The Prince of Rome” made his 601 appearances for Roma on 14 May, 2016 when the Giallorossi recorded a 3-1 win over Milan at Stadio San Siro.
