Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Empoli and Cagliari face each other at Stadio Carlo Castellani in the opening match of the season. Empoli return to the Italian top flight after spending only one season in the Serie B and, no doubt, they can’t wait for Sunday’s football match against Cagliari to start. The Azzurri produce much better showings at home ground than on the travels, but seeing that they suffered a heavy 3-0 loss to Cittadella at their Stadio Carlo Castellani in the Italian Cup clash at the weekend, we do not believe that there is a big value in betting on the hosts. Over the years Cagliari have established themselves as a mid-table side in the Serie A and they are definitely capable of grabbing something from the opening match of the season. Seeing that the Rossoblu are not regarded as good travelers, we predict the two teams will share the spoils on day 1 of the 2018/2019 Serie A campaign.

Highlighted Player (Levan Mchedlidze):

Levan Mchedlidze is a Georgian international who plays for Empoli as a forward. Mchedlidze played for Dila Gori in the 2005/2006 season and in 2007 he moved to Italy. The Georgian attacker signed a contract with Empoli in July, 2007 and he has been playing for the Azzurri ever since.
However, it has to be noted that he was sent on loan to Palermo on 30 August, 2008, playing 11 league games for the Rosanero. Mchedlidze has only three caps for Georgia U21, but he played five games for the senior team in Euro 2016 qualifiers. On 3 June, 2016, he made his 27 appearance for Georgia, in a 5-1 loss to Romania in a friendly match.
The Empoli striker scored his first ever goal for the Georgian national team in a 2-0 win over Scotland on 17 October, 2007. Mchedlidze open the scoring after 16 minutes, but he was replaced by Kvakhadze in the second half of the match.
Highlighted Team (Cagliari):

Cagliari are a professional football club based in Cagliari, Sardinia. I Rossoblu (The Red and Blues) compete in Italian Serie A and the club’s biggest success came in 1970, when they won the national championship.
Cagliari finished the season in top position in the standings, four points clear of Juventus and it has to be noted that Luigi Riva led Cagliari to their first Serie A trophy.
I Rossoblu welcome their rivals at Stadio Sant’Elia and the capacity of the stadium is 16,000. In the 1993/1994 season Cagliari made it to the UEFA Cup semis, with the team suffering a loss to fellow Italian club Inter in the two-legged tie.
Giuseppe Pancaro helped Cagliari record a 3-2 win over Inter in the first leg, but I Rossoblu were hammered by the Nerazzurri in the second leg (3-0). Palermo are regarded as Cagliari’s main rivals and the two teams square off against each other in the Derby delle Isole.
